Bank angle limiter

The bank angle limiter dial behind the heading indicator does not seem to limit the bank angle the aircraft still seems to bank to 30* (third notch with the triangle) in autopilot not matter if you select 20 or 15 degree limit. (Noticed it at around 8k ft. So not sure if it only works at above certain altitudes).

Are you using LNAV or HDG SEL? My understanding is that (at least on the 737 which shares the Honeywell MCP) the bank angle limiter is only effective for HDG SEL and VOR/LOC modes, LNAV has its own limits.
