EGJJ weird LOC behaviour - ILS 08
-
Hey guys - fantastic jet for starters, will be my go to bird for regional hops once I've nailed it!
Trying my second flight in the RJ. Attempted 2 short hops now 1st one was from EGAA last night in the dark, and then tried once more today from EGLC. Flight is going fine, up to the point I'm trying to intercept the LOC. To then arm APP mode to get onto the G/S (I also circled after the video and tried APP mode straight away). Just want to check if there's an issue here or if I have missed something! So Navdata is upto date via navigraph hub, had the ILS freq tuned in both sides on the VHF nav both set to on, courses were set left and right side on the MCP. However when following the LNAV path, and making the turn to final to intercept the LOC and G/S. I would arm VORLOC, it would then capture and show LOC* on the FMA but, instead of making a right turn onto the tuned courses of 083 it would make a Left turn say over 100 degrees to then proceed and track on heading 248. On the first flight last night I managed to LOC and GS* again on reciprocal heading away from the runway and it was even following the G/S path away from the runway!
This was following the JW1 or JW2 transition.
I have a shortish clip just before capture to demonstrate the issue I'm having
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKIie0p68fIp.s. while writing this I noticed that through GSX I selected deboard, GSX has done it's thing unloaded cargo and the passengers - but deboarding on the EFB shows 0% But the music and ambient sounds are playing?

Thank you for the feedback. Yes, that is a very strange one. In addition to the aircraft attempting to fly a back course localiser, there seem to be several oddities going on in that clip that I haven't seen reported in testing or post-release. For instance, the APP mode not engaging at the start of the video, and despite the same active ILS frequencies and courses being entered into the VHF NAV radios, only the NAV1 autopilot was "ON" (in that instance both NAV1 and NAV2 should be "ON" by default.
It's a shame the video doesn't start a little bit earlier in the approach to see what the steps leading up to that situation were. For example, do you recall if you engaged VOR LOC or APP at any prior point during the approach? I know we have the back course logic simulated and that will be triggered when the VOR LOC is selected and the aircraft is less than 80 degrees from the reciprocal of the selected front course. So I am wondering if in this situation, you may have engaged VOR LOC at a prior point on the approach, and the aircraft hasn't switched from back course localiser to front course localiser mode. Thank you for supplying the approach though as that is something we can test on our end and try to replicate.
With regards to GSX, we are monitoring a few other threads of users reporting GSX issues and we'll provide an update to the GSX logic as soon as we have got to the bottom of them.

Hey Mark,
Nope I treated just as I would an approach with say the A320 or 737, I had the descent in and followed the LNAV path controlling speed via IAS - I am wondering if it because it was a sorry not sure on the technical term, but a "teardrop" style approach even though still ILS rather than a straight in. If the FMS got confused somewhere but as far as I could tell the waypoints sequenced ok.
Only at the point in the video was the first attempt at either VORLOC or APP button pressed, I shall have to try another airport that has an traditional approach.I'll have to read through the manual again in more depth see if I missed a step in the approach phase.
Thanks again for the reply and such - I am still rather basic in hand fly approaches so rather dependant on ILS haha noobie skills indeed!
