Fuel qauge reading in kgx100 with lbs selected.
-
Would it be possible to have the fuel gauge show lbs instead of kg when selecting pounds in the tablet as the unit of measure?
I was hoping V2 would fix this. -
@lancealotg The text on the analogue fuel gauges in the cockpit are entirely texture-based, so unfortunately, it wouldn't be possible for us to create an option to swap between those units on the EFB. I believe the only way we could do that would be to have separate texture sheets for each of the units, and that would double the file size of the 146 package as we would need to have two versions of every 146 variants so users could have the choice of kg/lbs in the aircraft selection menu.
The UNS-1 FMS does have a FUEL page that shows information such as total fuel, fuel flow, etc. and you can toggle the units between kg/lbs on the FUEL > MENU page.

Thanks for the explanation, I appreciate it.

@Mark Respectfully, please reconsider doing this -- I realize doing so will add the complexity you describe but having imperial and metric units isn't a meaningful option unless it's a true option. I shouldn't need to go into the FMC to see my fuel, if I'm flying with an FMC that's not an option anyway, and if 75% of my in-sim setup is in imperial but the panel is showing me metric, instead of trying to do calculations in my head to convert in real time to imperial I'm being heavily incentivized to just use metric for everything. While metric users might wish that was just the case for us imperial unit holdouts, that's not likely to happen in our lifetimes and there are scads of customers who are only ever going to be used to imperial units and want to simulate operators who used the aircraft with imperial units.
As a user, I have zero problem with a file size increase to accommodate this and I'm not sure who would.

Since I am a metric user, not sure if this is just the label that is wrong or if the actual fuel gauge display (i .e the numbers) also indicate kgs instead of pounds. If it's the second then its a bigger problem.
Regarding texture sheet size, since this aircraft already have swappable cockpit components, may be the fuel gause surface can be seperated out as a seperate dynamic component. I am not sure how that works in a plane, but i would assume it's just a matter of showing or hiding a section of model based on some logic. The filesize increase that is being talked about is probably due to this being part of a single large cockpit texture sheet which will need to be duplicated for both types of units.
Another option might be to replace the texts (in cockpit atleast) with decals, that way, they can be seperated out is much smaller components.
Although both approaches will need some remodeling and paining in the fuel gauge area and may break addons which alter cockpit appearance for this aircraft.

I agree (obviously) with p919h_lm, seems odd to me that GPS units and FMC units can be hot swapped out like they can be in the 146, F28, etc. but the fuel flow/quantity gauges can't be made the same way?
As a fallback, just creating textures where the needle behaves the same way etc but the markings are adjusted to correspond with pounds, and letting us download that and install it ourselves overwriting the metric version would be acceptable.
