    Happy New year.
It appears the HSTAB trim animation is responsive to the electric trim switch (regardless of hydraulic power state) but not to moving the trim wheel manually. The HSTAB is both mechanical and hydraulically actuated, additionally I was unable to located the trim gauge:

Correction to the above post: the hstab is either electrically or hydraulically actuated. using the electric switch engages the alternate hstab control electric motor powered by the 28v DC Essential Bus. The trim wheel moves a valve which admits hydraulic pressure from the Flight Control system to the appropriate side of the actuator. The current system when using the control bindings for trim up and trim down only use the alternate control. The primary hydraulic control of actuating the trim wheel or using the trim axis -100 to 100 does not move the HSTAB

Disregard this post. It appears I missed the GIANT orange lights indicating the flight system was not powering the stab...my apologies.
