TFR in the Vulcan. What is it and how do I use it?
-
I am trying to understand the systems on the fantastic Vulcan release from you amazing folks at JF and was wondering if TFR is what I expect to be as a Terrain Following Radar. I see the option on the EFB to equip a TFR Dome, and I see the TFR System from the 1st Pilots position, but was wondering if this is implemented as a system, if so how do I use it, or am I way of the mark with my ideas.
Please advise and possibly a tutorial video to help.
Once again keep up the good work. -
The Terrain Following Radar (TFR) is functional in the Vulcan and the steps required to get it functional are covered in the "Low Level Checks" checklist which can be accessed either via the in-game MSFS checklist system, EFB checklists, or via the checklists on page 149/150 of the Operation Manual.
In essence, you have to turn the supply to the TFR ON, set the control switch ON, then select the desired altitude using the HEIGHT SELECTOR. With all that set, set the MFS/TFR switch on the co-pilots main instrument panel to TFR and the flight directors will start to provide vertical guidance to maintain the selected altitude.
On the Alt 7B panel (radio altimeter panel), you can also set the limit selector to a specific altitude and the three limit lights on the co-pilot's main instrument panel will also illuminate depending on if you are above/at/below the selected altitude.
The "TFR Dome" option on the EFB only toggles on/off the TFR Dome model from the nose of the aircraft, so doesn't affect the functionality of the TFR itself.
Hope that helps.
