Garmin unit severe performance drop.
-
After around 2 hours, my framerate severely shot down to single digits. I have seen this bug before with other aircraft which have since been fixed. Completely smooth sailing up until that point.
Turning the Garmin unit off instantly restores most of the framerate, though remains slightly lower than prior to the big hit.
Turning it back on reverts to the low performance.Edit:
10 minutes later. Exterior performance, although decent framerate, has become stuttery. Interior performance is continuing to lose framerate. Turning the Garmin unit on now sees me at 1-2fps -
@Swan1100 We had one report of this during the testing phase of the Vulcan, and we were never able to reproduce it again. So we don't think you're alone, but as it occurs so rarely and as we're not able to reproduce it, it's proving a difficult one to fix, so any information you're able to provide on this would be a great help!
Could we ask how you inputted the flight plan in the GPS? Was it manually inputted on the flight plan after starting the flight, was it created in the MSFS main menu, or was it created in an external application (like SimBreif) and then imported into the MSFS main menu?
Did you make any adjustments to the GPS after starting the flight? I.e. did you perform any direct-tos, change the destination, change the SID/STAR, etc?
Also, did you have the GPS open for the entire flight? I.e. was it open when loading into the aircraft and remained open the entire flight, or did you toggle the GPS on or off at any point after loading into the aircraft?

@Mark I will gladly provide as much information as i can.
Firstly I must correct myself as the entire flight (from loading in to exit) was around 3hrs 20min, not the 2 hours I mistakenly stated.
I started cold & dark, I did not have any state saving enabled so I then enabled the Garmin via the EFB, i put the Garmin unit up by the window.
After getting the electricals up and running, I then proceeded to manually enter around half of the plan I had, with plans to add the rest later on in the flight.
My plan would have looked something like EGVN - CPT - DVR - KOK - KRH - MAH - OBEDI.
I then started the aircraft. After I took off, I performed a Direct to CPT and proceeded on course at around FL350. A fellow Vulcan flyer found me and we flew together for a while, all was smooth.Upon passing MAH, I decided to start entering a few more waypoints, adding PODET and LURID to the plan, I also decided to climb up to FL370.
At this point I tabbed over to the Vulcan's manual PDF to have a read about other features, about a minute after tabbing back in, I noticed that the frame rate was becoming a little less smooth. Within a couple of minutes this had become very jarring.
Having seen similar issues with other aircraft which use various non-standard Garmin layouts, I decided to turn the unit off, this instantly gave me a boost in performance (though not returning to how it was). However, a few more minutes passed and the performance without the Garmin had also degraded.
I turned the Garmin back on, as a test, and received a framerate so low that it was a struggle to turn it back off again.
I also tried disabling the Garmin from the EFB, but it did not make a difference to having it switched off.Switching to external view gave me a much higher framerate, but with stutters every 2-ish seconds.
After that point, the cockpit frame rate became unusable and I ended the flight just after passing PODET.About an hour later, I took the Vulcan out again, this time I did not select or use the Garmin at all, the aircraft functioned and performed beautifully during a 3 hour flight.
Please let me know if you need any more details, system specs etc. Also I apologize if this was too much info.

Also noticed poor performance with the PMS 750 mod the other day…. Flying a STAR into CYUL. This was also after several direct-tos and loading of the ILS 06R with the GPS unit placed on the dash. If I encounter again, I will post as many details as I can.

Where can I find pilot’s notes for the Garmin? Which one is it simulating?

Apologies for the belated reply, the GPS used in the Vulcan is the default MSFS Aera GPS. Unfortunately, I don't believe there is any documentation supplied for the default MSFS GPSs, or any documentation for the default aircraft that includes the Aera GPS. For reference, the following link houses the manuals for the Asobo/Microsoft published aircraft: https://www.flightsimulator.com/aircraft-manuals/).
