ValIt's not available on XBox at the moment. Your best bet would be to contact Just Flight support - there is a link on the website www.justflight.com

Yup same issue here. Using Xbox controller.
I cannot get any rudder control at all.
I have tried:
- All 4 variants
- Gust lock is off (and other control surfaces are working plus the power will increase to max which it will not do when gust lock is on)
- Checked hydraulics (in fact used the ready for Take-off state)
- Checked rudder control axis on another aircraft and it is working fine
- Assigned nosewheel steering to rudder on/off in EFB, has no effect
- Read through the manual, searching for “rudder”.
- I do not use any rudder assistance (or any other “assistance”) in msfs.
I have also written to support.
Kindly Note: Many of us on PC use Xbox controllers for quick flights, sometimes it saves the hassle of plugging in the full yoke and rudders etc. if you just have spare 20 minutes. Also, the Xbox controller is great for controlling drone camera. So, when we say we are using Xbox Controller, it does not always mean we are using an XBox.

@martyn Thanks for the update and spoke to you in the MSFS forums. Just wanted to add this here in case other users reading:
If assigning to the “new” (yaw) controls, the rudders do not auto centre when removing input. So it becomes really very awkward.
It really would be ideal if it could just work with the normal rudder axis. :-)
Cheers, :-)

@philp I downloaded and installed the new update. Now I can control the rudder but there is still a problem. No matter in which direction I want to steer my airplane by using the rudder it will always go to the left. Both axis are same.

Guys, notice that there are two different sets of LEFT/RIGHT rudder control events:
-RUDDER LEFT/RUDDER RIGHT.
-RUDDER AXIS LEFT/RUDDER AXIS RIGHT.The first ones are to be used with keys/buttons and the second ones with any controller that incudes a Z-Axis.
Speaking of XBOX, if buttons are used to control the rudder then the first set of events is the correct one to map. The second set might work in other situations but not here, as you have noticed.
Anyway, if you change to the first set, it must work for other aircraft as well, so give it a try and comment. Thanks!Tomas

@valente737 Yep same here . Only a left rudder
-
@martyn I downloaded the 1.1 Update. I only get the rudder going left . The Bae 146 works perfectly
-
The suggestion from JF, was to change from
-
Rudder Axis Right / Left
to -
Rudder (Yaw) Right / left
This works, you can move the rudders now, but it is really not good. For a number of reasons. It does not behave like the normal rudder, i.e. it does not auto centre. Consequently, it messes with everything you have learned so far.
We just need it to work with the normal Rudder Axis Right / Left as it should. I mean this is a basic requirement of any aircraft in the sim.
However, I am now worrying as it seems that this is not being looked at anymore. I bought this plane on release day and due to not having time to plug in in my main yoke and rudder I have not been able to fly it yet. (I absolutely refuse to use auto rudder).
Much as I love JF and have been a customer since 2008, I fear this may be my first ever refund request coming soon. It is a heck of a lot of money to spend on something that does not work as it should. Even if that problem only affects a minority, it is basic stuff.

@philp i agree. they aim to bring this to the marketplace (not anytime soon most likely) and this issue would need to be fixed before it gets there. i dont understand why basic controller function isnt supported? big time oversight on this. i too have owned this for several days, without a single minute in the air so far due to the controller function being broken, now to this. $70 is abit much to ask for, on a plane that doesnt have a key basic function imo. literally the only aircraft in the sim, were a controller wont work on it.

I did make a post asking if anyone could guide me towards any file edits I could look at to solve this. I am a programmer dev myself, but this is out of my scope.
I don't want to use any external applications like Axis and Ohs etc. It has never been necessary so far.
I'll do some more experimenting on this and post back if I find anything useful, but I have a feeling it is not as simple as finding the entry in a file and editing it.
-
@philp its not. i spent the night searching. theres no code in any of what we have access too in the aircraft files, that controls how both rudder inputs, move it left. good ol SOL it seems on this and its a shame. its crazy to me to think that the 146 didnt have this issue, but the fokker does...
-
Yes, I also used GREP to search for "Rudder" and found a ton of entries but not had chance to experiment or compare with other aircraft yet, but I am sure you are right. If it was simple as a file edit then I think JF would have posted a hotfix already.
I notice there is another post similar to this one btw:
https://community.justflight.com/topic/5155/ps5-controller-post-patch-right-rudder-not-working/12
And it looks like it has been acknowledged that we should stick to our old assignments and wait for a fix. The question is (and I hate to be the "are we there yet" guy) but how long do we have to wait?
-
@philp i very much feel the same way. they rushed to fix it the first time (when we had no rudder input at all on controllers) to now both rudder inputs go left. they should of made whoever attempted the fix and got it kinda working, to work over the weekend to solve the issue. im hoping we dont have to wait to much longer. as far as im concerened, 5 days to get the first flight, is asking alot for those who bought it under the assumption it works like all the other aircraft in the sim.
-
@philp youd figure because it makes it literally unflyable for us, they would care. kinda like saying, "hey guys thanks for the money, o you cant fly it? just wait im sure itll be fine". lol. anyways, i really hope this gets solved relatively quickly.....

The software was released late on Wednesday. We responded very quickly to all the initial bug reports (including the XBox conroller issue) and released an update on Friday. If it needs a further fix, rest assured that we do care and one will be released.
As Martyn mentioned in this thread: https://community.justflight.com/topic/5155/ps5-controller-post-patch-right-rudder-not-working/10
"Thanks for confirming. We'll get the self-centering axis assignments support added ASAP."

@derek us controller peeps appreciate you. we just weren't sure what the definite word regarding the situation was. we both saw that it was recognized, but other then in that one specific reply post, no other info was to be found if this was something that was being worked on asap.
