Should I Wait for the RJ or get the PMDG 737 to Keep Me Going ?
-
@gabe777 I don't see how anyone can answer this for you aside from you.
The RJ is still a bit away afaik but you can't go wrong with either. I'm assuming you'll eventually get both so maybe just decide based on if you want something new to fly right now.
Do you have the regular 146? If you don't, it's a phenomenal aircraft that's well supported and runs wonderfully both on console and PC, and there's just enough automation where users who aren't used to manual aircraft will get along just fine.

@easy301 High Easy.
Yes I have the 146 but I'm REALLY lazy.
Like I bought some new t-shirts and boxers last week cos I couldn't be bovved to do the laundry .... 🤣
The point is... I need something uber-automated.
If the RJ is going to make an appearance in the next couple of months, I'll wait, as I'm not really a lover of the 737, TBH. The 747 is my baby... but that's prolly years away.
The only alternative is the Leonardo, but at 90 bucks he's got no chance. That guy needs a lesson in the principle of price elasticity of demand... especially for a port.
The 737-600 is only about 35 quid pounds, I think. So I may just go with it.

If you want an automated airplane, then the A320 is for you.
I have the Fenix but stopped flying it because it got too boring for me. The plane does everything for you.Like easy said, the 146 is a fantastic plane and pretty much the only plane I fly. I must be over 100 flights in it now.
The believe the Leonardo is among the least automated planes out there. I don't have it, but it looks more hands on then the 146.
I also have the 737-600 and it is a great plane, but I like to fly with analog gauges.
I only fly in VR and analog works much better for me. -
Well the MD80 has auto-throttle and autoland.
So it's very automated.
I don't do Airbus unfortunately.
Anyhow I've just got the SF50 Vision to keep me going.

Zero viz landing here.... Which means a coffee in one hand, vape in the other and pretend to be awesome 🤣🤣🤣

@gabe777 the 737-600 is one of the least varied packages from PMDG offering only a single variant. I have the -700 and it's a fun plane, but between the ever-missing EFB and some poor design choices (please please PMDG fix that damn Baro knob, no I will not sign up to your forums...), I find it somewhat annoying to the point where I rather jump into the 146 because it's less of a hassle.

And because it's MUCH more satisfying when you finally work out how to fly it. I have the Fenix, one of the PMDG 737s, and the 146. I hardly touch the airbus but that's because I've been flying Boeings since FS9 and can't wrap my head around how to fly airbuses (airbusses ? airbii ?), the 737 is my goto lazy tubeliner and the 146 is my goto satisfying airliner.
The 146 is a very hands on plane but it's so much more satisfying than an automatic airliner when you wrangle it down through a thunderstorm and the runway appears in front of you a couple of seconds before MINIMUMS.
Can't wait for the RJ and its autothrottle though, the way your speed disappears once you start to put flaps out is frightening and I've lost count of the times I've stalled halfway down the localiser and had to bang in the power and hand fly it the rest of the way. Great fun when you can't see anything ...
-
@grol Airbussi are easy. You fill in your flight plan, press the "Go" button, eventually touch down, and wonder WTH the plane is doing the rest of the time. It's more of an IT experience, I'd call it "differently fun". The interesting part is when something doesn't work as expected, because then you need to tell a very opinionated computer about your ideas and convince it to do something like it.

Agreed 100 percent.
The BAe is very hands on... fine but sometimes you just wanna chill.
I'm flying the SF50 jet currently. Too automated TBH ! 🤣🤣🤣
First World problems eh ? Never happy 🤯
I just want the Avro but no idea if and when.
May go with the 737 or Maddog and forget it. The maddog is pretty much an RJ ... just looks different.
The new Fokker is an even older and more hands-on jet than the BAe... so that's a hard pass
