Late EGT rise after moving fuel lever to idle on engine start

I've noticed it takes a really long time for "lightoff" to happen once I introduce fuel into the engine, normally at 10%N2. In videos I have seen, the EGT rise happens within a few seconds, though this is not the case here. I also noticed the automatic checklist will position the fuel levers to idle immediately after engaging the starter, and the fuel does indeed kick in after 10%N2, effectively preventing a hot start. Is this a sim limitation or intentional design of sorts, or can this be adjusted?
