Invisible AI / Very few planes in departure airport
-
There is already a hot topic that covers this matter on the first page of this forum.

I have this issue sometimes, and for me, restarting the Sim helped. But in your case, if may also relate to the maximum object count in the Simulator. If you have lots of aircraft traffic (cars etc.), and road traffic, plus ships etc., your Sim may not display the aircraft as the maximum object limit has been reached.

@deepsky I find FS Traffic very hit and miss. Sometimes it will show aircraft, sometimes nothing. As soon as I start FSLTL, it populates the airports, so that works fine. GA Offline (payware) works fine too. It's just so hard to get FS Traffic to reliably show AI for some reason and I have tried so many times but I don't want to depart and arrive at empty airports.
-
@deepsky How are you only using FS Traffic models in FSLTL? I imagine removing the model folder completely could cause problems with sim stability as it looks for models and files that it can't find any more. Would love a 'only use FS Traffic' option until FS Traffic figure out how to make their traffic work every time and populate a 30 mile radius around me at all times.

@toby23 There are different things you can do. If you meant "how can you use FS Traffic models in FSLTL", in the recent FSLTL injector, you get the option to prioritise FS Traffic models. It means FSLTL will use FS Traffic models if there is an FS Traffic model. If not, it will use the FSLTL model.
However, I'm no longer doing this because I want FS Traffic to be my base software. This is because FSLTL displays live traffic only, but I want to fly with traffic at any point in the world at any time. So, what I'm doing is I have connected dozens of FSLTL and AIG models into FS Traffic, filling the gaps of airplanes that FS Traffic currently does not offer.
-
@deepsky I thought I had read a post where you had done the opposite and used FSLTL's injector to only inject FS Traffic optimised models, my mistake.
The problem I have with your method is the time required to set it all up, I just don't want to do that any more in the sim. I want to fly and see the world!
I did all this in the past many times and had military, cargo, GA, commercial all flying at the right time in the right place etc in FSX and it looked wonderful, the skies were alive literally.
I miss that in MSFS currently and empty airports are a sad and lonely place to be with only me and one or two high vis staff on the apron. -
@toby23 I understand what you mean. Yes, I previously used FS Traffic models in FSLTL only and I had the FSLTL models deactivated by removing them from the Community folder. This worked, but the downside, as I later figured out, is that FS Traffic currently does not have lots of the models and liveries that FSLTL has. It means lots of the airplanes that FSLTL would like to generate would never be seen as there were no FS Traffic liveries etc.
I've finalised my "linking" work (linking FSLTL and AIG models into FS Traffic) and will make this available shortly. I looked into this a bit further and the aircraft.ini files should be fine to share, just as it is fine to share FS Traffic flight plans. It will give you the opportunity to use FS Traffic and enjoy the full benefit of its functions, but also have many of the missing models replaced by FSLTL and AIG models.

@deepsky thanks for this!. Could you advise how to add Hawaiian's 717 fleet? I guess the only way is through AIG although I dread having to go through its installation process. Is there a way to download only this model/livery from somewhere and having it work in FS Traffic/FSLTL or should I go through AIG's installation hell?
-
@monkeypants Yes, that's right, it's an AIG model.
Though I haven't downloaded individual files, I think it is possible and explained in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnfGRLdy6M4

@hunterdouglas My mod will still be functional after the update. Once the new update has been released, I will update the mod and ensure any new aircraft added by JustFlight are appropriately reflected in the mod.
