Why do we have to set to ZERO?
-
Pleased to report that FS Traffic installed okay and that it kind of works as expected. Arrival airports seem to be working but Departures are quite hit and miss but not seeing those dumb 'vanilla' planes everywhere was a breath of fresh air.
One question though: as the installation video instructs, why do we need to set Airport Life and Land & Sea Traffic in General Options to zero - that doesn't make any sense to me. Can someone elaborate?
-
I see also: Aircraft Traffic Type should be set to Zero. I don't get it.
Please asplain like I'm five years old! :)

@clevatreva because msfs has a limit for objects you can inject in to the world. If you set everything to 0 you highly likely will not reach that limit and also will get a better performance.

0
So "0" isn't actually zero? 1 and above would be 'extra'?
-
@clevatreva indeed. It IS zero for boats and road cars, fauna etc., but not for traffic planes. You will see all the planes even with all sliders to 0. But we leave "airport vehicles" slider to 1 for puchback tugs may work.

Thanks. Cars and boats will still spawn then, I assume? I know they’re a resource hog but I still like to see them now and again.
-
@clevatreva no it will not spawn at all if you set them to 0. The idea of this is to give space for FSTraffic in the game world. As i said before MSFS has a limit for injected objects. About 1000 if i remember correctly. It count everything, cars, boats, tugs, people, even moving jetways etc. Almost eeeeverything that moves and interact with you and ai in the world. So if you appear in the big airport where a lot of things around and also there is a cars around and boats abd staff, you may reach the limit and there would be no room for traffic, you may get invisible aircrafts then. And also performance will drop accordingly. But of course if you like to see cars and boats around you can leave them on, but do remember - the limit may be reached.

@nelajainen Many thanks, makes sense now.
While I'm here, does FS Traffic only affect international / large airports? What about regionals and smaller ones?
-
@clevatreva regionals also have a schedule. At least inside the app flight plan list. For example I was in Argentina. There is SABE international airport in Buenos Aires - there is a lot of traffic. And also there are SAAR anв SAZM - truly regionals. And they have few rare flights too. It's rare, maybe even once per day, but there are flights. I saw them in the sim and I saw them in app schedule. But looks like default regional airports have even more problems with taxiways etc. AI I saw in SAZM landed and the stuck/dissapear while taxi out from RW to taxiway, never reached the stand. But it has arrived at least)
