Seems buggy and very restrictive once loaded into sim

And if you read all the posts in this forum with the whole bunch of people having problems: Please spare your copy and paste text about contacting the developer! It is a PR disaster that none of the developers has answered ANY question or commented on ANY of the errors here! This is not how we customers should be treatened!
I have replied. Although I didn't actually code the software I am part of the team and therefore could be classed as 'a developer'.
Mark (who IS a developer) replied here: https://community.justflight.com/topic/4157/first-impression-bugs but the team is dealing with the feedback we've had to support, which is why I am trying to refer everyone to support. We don't do support by forum; it's really only aimed at discussing the products and if customers encounter problems, Support is best placed to help. -
@derek The worst part is that FSLTL is much better in almost every way than FSTraffic from a user perspective, and it's free. The funny thing is that FSTraffic's biggest problem is the traffic itself. Maybe if you didn't have the time or enough people to test it well before releasing it should have been stated as EA

@derek Sorry but his experience is representative. I have got good help from JF support but it has not solved the problem. Trying to make it work with an empty community folder (except FS Traffic), but it still not right.
I understand this is complex but there is clearly something wrong here. Refund has been asked for. The product is faulty. People just don't have the time for this. (I don't).
I buy something, I expect it to work as advertised. But thanks for the effort.

A further update to my earlier posts. I have been beta-testing at a different airport today (Edinburgh - EGPH) and can clarify that aircraft do seem to be arriving at the departure airport (albeit not very often and in tiny numbers despite what the db would suggest there should be). Anyhow, at least there are aircraft replacing those that depart so that the airport doesn't become completely dead which is a bit of a relief.
Despite that good-ish news, departures still seem to go in a flurry at the start of the session for some reason - it's like every aircraft that would be scheduled to leave over the 4 hour period I set in the management console just all want to leave at the start, one after another. I set the "time before departure" value to 240 this time and it did generate a lot of aircraft at Edinburgh. However, like I said before, the issue of them departing at incorrect times is still persisting. Flights all seem to be off by some random degree and they don't seem to be tightly coupled with the db plans at all. I am still seeing planes departing 30, 40+ minutes before/after they should be - to the point that I have stopped looking at the db plans as they make no sense to what is happening in-sim and it's just got too frustrating trying to figure out what's going on.
Another issue I have now discovered is aircraft just disappearing when they land, despite there being empty stands for them to park at. Oh, and aircraft asked to "go around" don't seem to do the "around" part, they just "go", and never return - what a shame for those passengers.
Anyhow, I guess I just want to actually go fly a flight now. I think I will do that.

@nick Hi Nick. Sorry to hear about your frustrations so far with traffic.
Timing issues: I can confirm we are now aware of those timing issues and looking to fix as a priority. We haven't been able to replicate them in every case so it may be dependant on a few factors such as whether the flight is the first session of the sim being opened.
Aircraft leaving in in flurry and then the airport going dead isn't expected behaviour at all. EGNT is one of the devs local airports so quite a bit of the testing was done there and this behaviour was not observed. It sounds like something else may be at play.
We aware that in some cases arrivals are spawning a little close together and are working to optimise this more however the issue with arrival traffic being "saved up" sounds like something else is going on.
Some of the other issues you describe such as aircraft getting stuck or disappearing after landing may be related to scenery issues. As well as reporting these bugs to Asobo we will be exploring some options to fix these issues.
As Derek says the best thing to do is to send a ticket our support team who can gather the required info and help diagnose the problems.

Hi,
I have to chime in as well and say this is a buggy program. I sat on the ground at Tampa International. First off it takes a while for the program to "wake up". Then when it finally does all I see is aircraft departing but almost none arriving. As a matter of fact, there must have been a dozen plus flights that took off to only one arrival. The aircraft originally taxied out to 1L, three jets. Then it all taxied to 1R and took off from there. I sat there for 20+ minutes. I went to Houston International, the same exact thing as far as all departures but this time 0 arrivals.
I too feel like a Beta tester. With the cost of this program I am a bit annoyed by this. Also whenever I put in my destination airport, every other time I get an issue. Yesterday it was Track IR that stopped working. Today the aircraft I'm in pauses and won't move. Everything else around move is working except the aircraft that I'm in.

@derek I would still strongly suggest you change your stands on how you use the forums. From a customers viewpoint being referred to support forums with a copy/paste generic response after having made a post on your forums about a bug/problem is very annoying.
Having spent time to compile a post describing the problem etc, and all you get is a generic copy/paste text that might as well be posted by a bot. Having to repost/remake the issue to support when you’ve already told the company the problem is infuriating. People hate this, and rightfully so.Having a public discussion where devs are involved, open and honest about issues and what their plan is to fix it, builds trust.
Answering all post with the same generic “contact support” text makes you look like you do not want the bugs and issues to be discussed in public, like you have something to hide and/or do not care about the customers problem. That does not create trust…
I would seriously reconsider your “no support in the forums” policy.

I am sorry you feel you are being responded to by a bot, but we have never provided support by forums. See: https://community.justflight.com/topic/2/product-support
We have a dedicated support system manned by experienced staff and we pride ourselves on the quality of our support, which is well recognised in the flight sim community. We don't leave it up to customers to resolve each others' problems and possibly give spurious advice, to further frustrate those with problems.
If any issues are reported to support they can be collated, checked and then investigated by developers. If nothing else, it helps to know what systems and background programs are running and this can be extremely time consuming and annoying (for the customer) via a forum.
Once again, if you raise a ticket with any issues you are experiencing we will do our best to resolve them for you or fix them if it is a specific problem with the software.
-
@derek I’ve given your support system a chance. Experience so far:
-
Had to dig out information that in no way is pertinent to the issues I have, such as my order number. Is it a big deal? No, but totally meaningless with regards to the issues I have. If there is one thing people hate even more than preprogrammed replies and redirects from a company, it’s possibly having to fill out forms with irrelevant information… :grinning_squinting_face:
-
Got an e-mail back that said support operating hours was mon-fri 0900-1700 UK time. So I guess it will be a while before I get a reply. Forums are mostly open 24/7 with helpful users and devs/support personnel when they are available.
So far, forum support (like a lot of companies provide in addition to the normal support ticket system) are leading over the customer support experience, but will report back sometime next week when I expect an answer. It might be the most epic customer support reply in history, solving all my problems with FSTraffic. In that case I will fold and admit defeat. We shall see… :)

Thanks for the considered reply, John. I truly want this product to be the best it can be and there are aspects of it which I really like. It's the main reason I have mentioned things in various posts and tried to give as much detail as possible to help the devs figure out what's going on in certain situations - and not just ran off and demanded a refund.
As for the go around thing, you could be right in it being caused by scenery issues and may be something I just have to live with on occasion. I maybe didn't explain the "flurry" of departures thing well enough. Essentially what I meant was there seemed to be a high number of flights all departing in a 10 minute window or so (despite them not being scheduled to in the db) as soon as I load into the flight. This may allude to the timing issue you said JF are looking in to, so hopefully that will be addressed.
I will persevere for now as, like I said, there are aspects of the program I really like - the models, animations and sounds are top notch, and the whole pre-flight ground vehicle interaction thing adds a good bit of immersion.
Best of luck sorting out some of the issues. Believe you me, the vast majority of us really want this to be a major success.
-
@nick Thanks for sticking with it despite the issue's you're having. It does sound like it could be a bunch of departures from perhaps an our before or later than they are due. We are looking at the timing problems as a priority for a hotfix/update.
Whilst we'd advise people to report scenery issues directly to the developers we want to collect of comprehensive list of airports that are not yet compatible with AI. Once we have this info we want to speak to Asobo and see if they have any long term plans to fix them.
