Could somebody please explain how to airstart the engines? I have a problem with a flight, which I saved in midair. After loading the flight all engines are off. The airstart procedure from the manual is not working. I closed all throttles, waitet 30 seconds, select engine to start and flight start on. Then open throttle at 10% rpm. The engine spools up until 50%, but temp stays at 0. As soon as I end the starter it spools down again. APU was started before and hyd pressure good.
In the efb settings I have state saving enabled.

Didn’t realise the 146 was able of air starts, thought it was electric start only.
      Interesting

I mean the procedure to start the engines in flight. I think it still uses the electric starters, but is it working at all if you load a saved flight and start in midair with all engines off?

@danschiemann when you say "open the throttle 10%" is this just pushing your joystick lever forward? Or actually seeing the thrustlever in the VC move?

          Cheers,

@flightstrike I had the throttle in shutoff position and then clicked it to open it. Now I don't remember if it was really showing 10%. I have not moved my physical throttle at this point.

"funnily enough" today I hit a key on my keyboard in flight (think it was a function key but no clue which one) and everything went quiet till the alarms started. All engines cut off, fuel pumps off and therefore no electrics.

              So I tried:

              1. start APU to get electrics - no problem - start and on bus - power happening
              2. all bleeds off
              3. fuel pumps back on
              4. airstart selected - start power on - eng 4 and hit starter
              5. reset throttle to close and then re-open fuel cutoff

N2 reached about 30% then stopped there (never moved even when retrying from the beginning) and no N1 or EGT rises.

I used 27000 of my initial 29000 feet before admitting defeat and disappointing my 112 pax....

On the plus side - I was pretty much hands off because switches and it just descended gently in a straight line maintaining around 220kts which I figured would help but nada....

Would love to hear what the book procedure is :-)

try pushing down to motor, not electric start.

@b3lt3r Are the ENG IGN ON annunciators illuminating? I've been able to relight the engines successfully using the AIR START button after selecting the relevant engine using the selector knob.

@martyn Hi Martyn - I honestly can't remember what happened in detail now and thankfully I haven't been ham-fisted enough again to hit whichever magic button I did to kill everything :-)

If it does happen again or I decide to try and make it happen then I'll make sure to hit record so whatever does happen can be seen.

                    Cheers
