    As a complete and utter beginner, I am following the the PiperArrow demo flight in the manual (0.5.5) but I am having some difficulty turning on the Garmin GPS100 from cold and dark.... The manual just says "With the engine running and the alternator charging the battery, we can now switch on the avionics.

    Starting at the top of the centre panel and working down, switch on the KX 170B, KX 175B, KT 76A, GPS 100 (or GNS 430 / GNS 530 / GTN 650 / GTN 750 if installed), KN 62A and KR 85 units"

    I haven't brought the GTN650/or 750 yet, so I'm still using the default GPS100 but no matter what I press I don't seem to be able to get the unit to come alive.

    If I use the EFB and just select 'Ready for start or ready for takeover' the unit is running, but I'm trying to do this cold and dark, so I learn!

      @complete-beginner

      With the battery master switched on, it should just be a case of pressing this half of the power button. It will need multiple presses to increase the brightness.
