    Hello,

    First of all, thanks for the great addon and congrats on the release. I have been flying the hell out of it, every single day since release.

    I would like to discuss here about the drag of the aircraft - I am a bit surprised by the lack of drag this aircraft seems to have. It may be quircks of the real airplane, idk, but still - the behavior detailled below surprises me and I would like to know if it is "normal".

    • The aircraft is very hard to slow down without airbrakes - It's really hard to get below 200KIAS on approach. You need to plan a loooooooooong level flight in order to slow down.

    • During descent, below level 180, I cannot obtain a better descent rate than 800-1000fpm at 250KIAS - especially with the extra thrust needed to use anti-ice. That makes respecting STAR procedures ALT restrictions a challenge without deploying airbrakes.

    • Deploying landing gear doesn't have a significant impact on drag/airspeed. Same with full flaps.

    • (mentionned in another thread) At cruise, it is hard to maintain speed between 250 and 300KIAS. The aircraft has a tendency to accelerate to overspeed, or to slow down excessevely, if we don't dial the exact sweet spot of N1.

    Is this how the real 146 flies ?

    Thanks

      @genista I have noticed the same - it's bit of a slippery little airplane. I can't speak to how this flight model correlates to the real airplane's flight dynamics. Maybe someone else here that has flown her can comment...

        @bburkley slippery is definitely the right word. I've been working around it but I think it needs to be fixed. Everytime I hit the TMS for descent and it requests 50-60% N1 I laugh to myself, lol.

          @genista

          Points 1, 2 are generally true of the aircraft - especially the if Eng Anti-Ice selected and you need the higher N2.

          It should perhaps have a tad more drag @ idle thrust - but if you're idling at that recommended 63-67% N2 range to provide sufficient bleed air - it definitely warrants a bit of speed brake in the real aircraft.

          For your flap question - Don't forget the difference in flaps between 24-33 isn't very much when it comes to drag. Especially flaps 30-33. You won't see a marked increase in drag when deploying your final selection of flaps.

          The biggest drag/change felt on the real aircraft is between flaps 0-18.

          The gear drag feels pretty reasonable to me. Not too excessive which is the case with some other add-ons.

          Do agree with setting cruise thrust. Is a bit of a game setting, and playing with it is present on the real 146 aircraft - although it not as drastic as how it's modeled in sim.

            @infamousaviator The tail spoiler is a godsend in this plane, and when I did a lot of planespotting some 20-30 years ago you often saw these planes coming in on final with it deployed way early. And if you somehow forget to start your descent from high altitude, it's like throwing out an anchor, which is nice.

            But I agree it's still way too slippery at cruise and approach. But I think that's an Asobo problem more than anything - a lot of planes have the same issue with the throttle region between overspeed and falling out of the sky being almost non-existant.

              @genista Do you still have this issue? For here when at descent power i usualy just use a little stage of brake to descnelt at 250kts and around 100-1500ft. IF i open it up it will go to like 3000

              And when deploying flaps i really need to remember to add a good bit of power, if not the plane will slow down rather fast, specially when getting to stage 2+

              Also i have found the speed to be quite stable, but you do need to make tiny adjustments. Also for me it seems that syncing to N2 has the engines more calm as N2 fluctuates less then N1.

              She should be slippery without the use of the airbrake though. There is a good reason it has those barndoors :D

                @cgnoorloos thank you for the comment about N2 - I normally use N1, just tried N2 and it is much more stable. Not yet auto-throttle standard but I managed to make a cup of tea without returning to an overspeed or overstress situation :-)

                  @b3lt3r
                  In cruise, I use the TGT MODE with sync and dial in the value with the thumb wheels. Much more stable for me than moving the throttles
