Was having same/similar problems; make sure you check all the bindings for flaps/spoilers and all engines/mixture/prop if you are using 3rd party controllers (like Honeycomb).

My engine 1+2 cut out at idle and I eventually realized it was because prop/mixture were assigned to the same axis as throttle. Similarly, flaps would not go all the way down because both 'Flap Axis' and 'Flaps 0-100%' were assigned to the same axis (just delete the 0-100 one)

    Hope this helps.

@ankhtahr This is very common. The aerosft crj e.g. needs the mixture lever full on my yoke.So does the Maddogx. Mixture level off is no fuel on Jets No big deal I think, you just have to know it

Thanks @sparrows69, however as someone with over 25 years in software development my point (although I was being a little subtle) was that as an end user, we shouldn't have to "just know it".

For example, this is a jet, so if the logic for moving each fuel lever from 'off' to 'on' also automatically assigned the mixture rich for that engine/axis (and of course the opposite when moving the fuel lever to 'off' ) then we wouldn't have to 'just know it', and we could transition between our piston / jet engines easier.

Now I have flown the 146, I am enjoying it, it was just frustrating that I followed the tutorial and the engine would not start up..... this is one of those niggly little items that hopefully gets sorted for the next release.

As I was having the same issue with the Mad Dog today (I own the 146 too), I kept trouble shooting and discovered prop and feather mixture were still bound to my Honeycomb Throttle. Once I deleted them the issue was resolved.

Same issue. All engines start, except nr 1.

I have checked mixture bindings, but there are none except for the keyboard bindings. Any other suggestions?

Also with CTRL-SHIFT-F4 I can't get engine 1 started... (they will stop directly with CTRL-SHIFT-F1)

MSFS will shut off the fuel to any engine that has its Mixture control set to CUTTOFF (full lean), regardless of the engine type (piston or jet).

After several flights, yesterday I had one event, where Engine # 1 did not start with exactly the same behaviour as explained by the originator of this post. Yes, confusing and frustrating.

I restarted everything (ie, PC and then MSFS) and started the engines in reverse order (1,2,3,4) and all was well.

After reading the comments in this post, I checked the bindings in my Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo, and I do not have anything assigned that might be interfering with the start.

Today, I tried a start in the normal sequence (4,3,2,1) and all was well.

    Definitely a mistery.
    Regards,
    Roberto

@ankhtahr said in Engine 1 Start Issue:

    Thank you for this.
I had issues with engines stopping randomly and being unable to start them again until I reloaded the flight. Turns out, I have the mixture controls bound on my HOTAS and unknowingly had the mixture set to cutoff, so whenever there was jitter on the axis after the plane was loaded the engines turned off or became impossible to start again.

Is it intended behaviour that this aircraft reacts to the MSFS mixture controls?

Oh dang, that might be my issue as well!!!! Have to try it out, but I do have mixture set to lean on default on my HOTAS, so this could definitely be the answer!

We'll look at 'forcing' all mixtures to fully rich in the next update to prevent this quirk of the sim.
