Possible bugs with the AP.

Love the plane so far, learning and remembering is a bit of a slow process, however I have noticed two potential bugs so far.
The first is oscillation on the flight track when using the FMS in LNAV. The plane weaves side to side constantly and you have to put it into heading mode and line it near right on the track to fix it up. It happened during descent when I used the AP sync mode.
The second is I was unable to engage either G/S or V/L mode, in another flight. They buttons lit up for less than half a second and turned off.
This happened in the 300QT variant. Perhaps I am missing something since I'm still learning it, but figured I'd let you know.
Edit: Oh! One last thing, with the EFB you can't seem to type in any values on the AIrcraft tab without the using some control input (ie 4 and 6 on the numpad move the yoke). That and when you put a number in it won't let you just type it, it won't let you enter anything less than a 5 digit value.

I confirm, same happened to me on the -200. Using LNAV gave me bad oscillations, see an example below (the sections with less oscillations were attempts to switch between LNAV and HDG modes):
-
Update - Also started happening on the -100 on my latest flight, after about 2hrs, as I was getting close to Normway: https://fly.volanta.app/flights/539258b7-7270-435e-b760-0af5b34718bd
And then it stopped by itself after the next waypoint.

@melon Yeah, at one point I got seemingly lost in one of the menus of the FMS; there, there was an option to authentificate yourself to Navigraph through the FMS; and if you proceed with that, Navigraph will ask you if you want to authorize "Working Title CJ4". :eyes:
If the FMS thinks it's a Citation, then maybe that explains why it does a terrible job at lateral navigation. Hope it will be fixed. -

I have to say I’ve not had this issue at all, using the FMS. Follows the track on rails. Could it be a control assignment conflict you’re having?
It doesn't always happen. It will depend on your weights, speed, the amount of wind etc. The gain/phase of the autopilot needs to be tweaked.

Does it primarily happen on headings close to “heading north”? IIRC that was an issue on the CRJ also…

It does indeed ! See, on both screenshots and on the video I posted - Heading north.

@genista I'm currently flying North through France towards the UK. Real weather (and matching the OFP forecast really closely) without the swaying. I'll continue to monitor.
I must say when comparing the 146 to the CRJ product from the other company, the 146 is far more polished at this stage.
Ian.

I also flew 2 sectors today (west/southbound) with no oscillations either this time. I suspect we need "strong" crosswinds for that to happen.
I agree that this add-on is great, I do not regret my purchase at all. This little AP bug just ruins it a bit when it happens !

have similar observation on two flights on this northbound segment AP started wobbling left right:
central europe, west of LFSB ... [UN853;003°] LUL-GIVOR-SORAL
on next segment [UN853;344°] SORAL-IBERA-DIK normal LNAV tracking
solution: temporary switch to HDG. -
This was horrific to deal with tonight. It was fine right until TOD. Had to use HDG mode to get it on track but as soon as I tried LNAV again it did it again. It was only when I turned west on base did it behave again.
This really needs to be fixed, it would make landing in a northerly direction near impossible when relying on the LNAV to guide you into range of the localiser.

@genista Half the time my autopilot just blows through my waypoints in LNAV, I can see the needle change on the CDI but it doesn't follow.
Yep. Just had the same. Blew threw the waypoint and started banking left and right aftewards. Wasn't even northbound this time.
(don't mind the magenta line left of the waypoint - Volanta does not draw SIDs; Rikku waypoint was the first of my "normal" flight plan.
Even a DIR in the FMS would not make it turn back on course.
