3rd party Liveries
-
I know there is an option to add a livery, but is there a place where I would be able to download additional liveries? I am not skilled at repaints nor do I have the software to do so.

I use P3dv4.
I have found that TG will only accept full "flyable"aircraft models including the panels and not AI models.
In addition to those you may already have you can download these from a number of sites. I use simvation and pay a modest monthly fee.
https://simviation.com/1/front-page
Load each aircraft model to your aircraft folder. In TG go to "import aircraft "and choose flyable aircraft. You then have to find where you keep your aircraft. Mine are held within SimObjects/Airplanes.
Click on the model you want and it should be picked up by TG and it should appear in the box "select livery". Click on the entry. If it doesn't appear you can manually type in the aircraft title which should read for example JFAI-Airbus A330-200F Egyptair Cargo _AIvariant. Often there is a choice of liveries but you can only load one at a time. Find the matching airline in the "select livery" box then the aircraft code and finally put in a parking radius. Make this number quite low. For example the radius for a B777 should be around 33 but I drop this to around 20 as it gives more parking options. Confirm and the model will either be accepted or TG will crash! You then have to close TG down and reload. Your new model should then appear under "Edit AI Fleet parameters"
The programme is extremely fickle. For example I cannot load any B737, 757 or 787 models but it will accept B747, 767 and 777. Last time of asking the help desk they didn't know why!
You will then have to create the flight plans for your new models either via "Add new flight plan" or by amending the TG Global Flight plans . There you can then replace some of the bogus airlines that are listed with the real model. TG is quite clever as it seems to learn and automatically changes pre-created plans to match the new aircraft model you have added.
Finally don't forget to compile everything but don't include Cargo Traffic as that doesn't work. Don't expect your new aircraft to appear immediately. It can take several restarts of you sim before something you have added appears, but its very satisfactory when they do.
I have spend hundreds of house experimenting with TG and finally have traffic which is pretty realistic.
Just flight need to issue more updates for TG with up to date liveries and models. They could do this by region like North America and Europe etc and charge a small amount, which I'm sure most simmers would be happy to pay.
Good luck

@lockheed-lad said in 3rd party Liveries:
Hey guys, I'm also using P3D V 4.5, I'm too lod, retired, and too much money invested! Anyway, I hope you don't mind my adding my 2 cents! So, I have just finished setting up FSDev KCLE airport, they did an incredible job!, but I had to change a few things. So, I'll get to the point. At KCLE, TG puts plenty of SWA planes at Terminal B, and a few at Terminal A, and almost none at C, which is set for UAL, JBU, and ACA. So, I looked and seached through the TG flight plans first set for viewing KCLE as a departure, and then as an Arrival. Believe it or not, there were no UAL plans! as an example. So, I did my usual searching online, and you may already have done this, you can register with FlightAware for free. once yo do that, you can search for real flights, in my case KCLE, and bam, it showed me quite a few flights! Then I manually picked flights that I wanted and loaded the flights into TG, sometimes I had to pick a similar plane, etc. The other thing I noticed in FlightAware was that there was an NASA flight arriving at KCLE flying a T34T which is a Tupelov? (I found a great site that showed all the aircraft types in the real world). Anyway, wouldn't it be great to have that livery? Sorry for the long explanation for a simple comment, hahaha. It's IDENT was NASA602, don't know if that changes.

Hi bworld1
Thanks for your post. When you say that you manually loaded the flights you had found on FlightAware I assume you inputted the details using the "Add New Flight Plan" option in TG?
-
@lockheed-lad Yes, that's true. And since the flights did not have to be real, I varied the times, and maybe I needed the correct airline for KCLE, and not all the planes were in TG. So far, I have only added a dozen. But I am having a serious problem with the TG planes running into me when I have just pushed back onto the taxiway, aren't they supposed to look out for me? I have turned off the P3D AI planes by the way. If they are going to hit me, I won't add anymore flights, I have plenty of SWAs coming and going at Terminal B.
-
@bworld1 By the way, there is a column called "Circuit Until" when adding a flight plan. There is no explanation in the manual about it. I'm wondering if that is how you can get the plane to stay parked at each airport before taxiing out to leave, some planes stay parked forever, and some park, and a minute later, back out again. I didn't add any multileg flights, they are all just round trip. So, when I used to have P3D AI planes, I am sure they did not run into me. I've been using TG for many years, but I took a year off and now I have to try to remember if they ran into me or not!
-
@bworld1 Also, by the way, since I turned off the P3D AI aircraft, I have the traffic density in P3D set to 100%, so, when I created the flights in TG, I set the density to 100 to match P3D, I'm not sure I understand how to set that. Lastly, I only entered 10 flights, but they were all departing other airports and landing at KCLE as round trip daily flights. I forgot to enter in some flights departing from KCLE to other airports, so I will add 10 more at different times using the right side of that FlightAware doc which are all the flights departing from KCLE. What is so depressing about the planes running into me is that I am flying the Aerosoft A320 Pro, and I try to fly as real as possible, so the prep is at least 20 min, what with all the preps I'm doing, and also using GSX V2 where fueling/boarding/baggage loading, etc, take some time!, so I hate the crash!

@bworld1 Update: So, I went back in to TG to add some MY AI flights where the plane was departing from KCLE (I had forgot to do that). And after adding 2, I went back to look at My AI Flight schedule, and TG had changed every one of the airlines to a random airline, usually for a different country!!! After fixing that, I now back up the TrafficGlobalSchedule.bgl file, which now includes My schedules. So, here is an image where yo can see terminal B and C, there are just enough planes to keep it interesting and my FPS is still around 25, which is good enough for me!! My plane is at the bottom. 2022-4-24_12-46-7-190.jpg

@bworld1 Another update: After I changed all of my flights, I went back into the TG/Compiler folder to back up the file and I found that the only file that had updated it's modified date was schedules.dat, so I guess this is the one that needs to be backed up to protect yourself. If you find anything different, let me know. So, I also created 1 UAL flight with hourly instead of daily and it takes off from KCLE, I want to see how that works. United uses terminal C and that is what I want to see a couple more planes at, I'll set you know how that works. If it's hourly, does a plane just pop into a gate before it starts the flight?, don't know.
