High pitched annoying sounds present in the wind noise loop.
-
Greetings,
While I enjoy this flying this plane very much, I can't help but noticing that there is this annoying high pitched sound that loops frequently while flying.
Here's a recording of it
And here is a spectrogram of it:
You can see, more prominently in the right audio channel (lower one) a bright line at around 5-5.5kHz, which represents the noise.Trying to find the cause of it, if we set MSFS volume settings to the following:
We can hear this now.
And its spectrogram:
We can hear and see that the noise is still present, from which I assume this problem lies in whatever looping sound file we are using for wind noise.Reproduction Steps:
- Boot up MSFS 2020 (updated as of January 7th 2022, though I've experienced the same in earlier versions)
- Pick the Turbo Arrow III or IV (version 0.5.1, though I've experienced the same in earlier versions.) and start wherever in the air.
Furthermore, I believe this sound may be referenced in this thread:
https://community.justflight.com/topic/2685/strange-sound-constant-background-metal-twitter/19
Here we can read:
Our sound developer has investigated this and believes he has found the source of the sound.
The fix should be included in the next update for the Arrow/ Turbo Arrow/ Warrior.
in a ticket response from a dev, but unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the case, as it wasn't fixed in version 0.5.1I would be very grateful if someone in charge of sound designing could take a look a this and fix it, since it makes it for me impossible to me to fly this plane without being annoyed by it.
And I would really like to keep flying this plane since it's otherwise a pleasure to fly :(
Thank you.

@whatu I found recently that I had my Sony Bluetooth headset configured in the wrong way. It was set up to do two-way telephony which had a significant impact on sound quality. There was a constant metallic sound in the background... especially audible with sounds from the engine and wind.
The fix was simple. Switch off two-way telephony. There are plenty of guides out there. The improvement in sound quality was incredible. E.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTqy5lFTOqI
Hope this can help, but maybe your issue is different. Good luck.

@superkaro2014 I don't think this is the problem. For starters, I'm not using anything bluetooth.
Also, the spectrogram shows what the computer is outputing, independent of what hardware you use to hear it. The 5.5k pitched noise is clearly present there, before we talk about speakers/headphones.
Thank you for the interest.

@whatu Unfortunately I can't offer any help on this, but I'd just like to say your post is a developer's best dream come true. Lots of detail pinpointing the exact problem.
Also- I would highly recommend reporting this to https://support.justflight.com/support/tickets/new, this is a better way to help the devs track the issue.

Weird, I now find this worse than before.
