No working control surfaces

Hi, just got back into this A/C after flying GA for quite a while. I have followed the tutorial flight to the letter but have no control surface input (Ailerons and Elevator) on takeoff, with the exception of the rudder on my throttle. At first I thought that the Hydraulics were not on (but they are), however I can still retract flaps and undercarriage, and the coolie hat on on my flightstick changes the view direction. The Y/D button is on in on the centre console. The rudder pedals move but the yoke does not either L/R or Fore and Aft. All the lights are off on the MWS.
Can anyone help please? Mark
