As already noted in another thread https://community.justflight.com/topic/2972/com-nav-issues , the DME only works in frequency mode if the COM1 and NAV1 radios are on.

In addition to that, the DME Morse ident does not work correctly even when the COM1 and NAV1 radios are on. For example, at PADU Unalaska, where there is a DME but no VOR:

    • DME on in frequency mode and set to DUT (113.90).
NAV1 on and set to CDB (112.60).
DME Morse ident does not work.

    • DME on in frequency mode and set to DUT (113.90).
NAV1 on and set to DUT (113.90) however there isn't a VOR on that frequency (no VOR for DUT).
No NAV1 Morse ident signal for 113.90, which is correct because there isn't a VOR on that frequency.
      DME Morse ident works.

So not only does the NAV1 radio need to be switched on for the DME Morse ident to work, but the NAV1 radio also needs to be tuned to the same frequency as the DME for the DME Morse ident to work, even though there is no VOR signal to detect at that frequency, which is incorrect.

This is with v0.10.1. Support ticket raised.

@sender46 Have you tested it with a default aircraft, like the C172, to rule out a bug in MSFS SU7?

There’s a glitch in the matrix lol

The SDK has advanced a lot since then. Should be an easy fix as the sound options have expanded greatly.

The C172 in MSFS doesn't have a separate DME unit with a frequency mode. I haven't found any other plane in MSFS that does. Have I missed one?

EDIT: This DME ident issue works correctly using v0.9.0 with SU7, so hopefully it can be fixed.

To add to the above, at KCVO Corvallis Muni:

    • NAV1 on and set to CVO (115.40)
      DME off
      No Morse ident for NAV1
Switch on DME in RMT mode
Still no Morse ident for NAV1
Switch DME to FREQ mode and set to 115.40
Morse ident for NAV1 now works
Switch DME back to RMT mode with FREQ mode still set to 115.40
Morse ident for NAV1 still works

So Morse ident for NAV1 only works if DME is on and set to the same frequency.
NAV1 Morse ident should work if DME is off (but doesn't).
NAV1 Morse ident should also work if DME is on and set to another frequency (but doesn't).
