Control bindings for Heat/Air sliders?
-
I guess there are no controls for them. But they are just dummy sliders, why would you want them anyway?
-
@walterbeech When it's hot outside I adjust the air and turn on the fan, when the cabin temperature drops with altitude I adjust the heat. While it technically has no real effect in the aircraft, it's what I would do if I were actually flying. And I can adjust them using the mouse, I just have a couple of free sliders on my controls that I could bind to them if there were a command.

The top lever is Cabin Heat, and it can be turned on to prevent or remove windshield icing in this aircraft. There are currently no command assignments that will move the lever, but the WINDSHIELD DEICE commands will perform the same function.
-
@retiredman93231 Is it so? I've tried using it in icing conditions and my windshield still iced up like the Arctic ocean.
-
@walterbeech It's not an anti-ice system, it's cabin heat (for human comfort) that helps melt a little bit of ice as a side effect. The arrow isn't certified for flight into known icing conditions and if you encounter icing you need to find a way out fairly promptly

Here is a before screen shot with icing...

Here is a screen shot about 2 min. after turning the Cabin Heat lever to ON...

Icing conditions with Cabin Heat OFF...

With Cabin Heat set to ON, in icing conditions...

@retiredman93231 Thanks, is that the slider or a button bound to the command?
-
@katchaplin Setting the Cabin Heat lever in the cockpit to ON will send the sim command WINDSHIELD DEICE ON... But, the sim command is not bound to the lever animation, so binding the command to a key or button won't move the lever.
-
@retiredman93231 got it, thanks.
-
@retiredman93231 So now I'm puzzled why it didn't work for me...
-
@walterbeech Maybe the slider has to be all the way ON to trigger the DEICE command... Make sure you move the lever all the way to the right.
-
@retiredman93231 Good point.

So using the MSFS WINDSHIELD DEICE command to provide de-icing is really a cheat in the Just Flight Arrow.
Just out of interest, I Googled and found another thread on this here:

@retiredman93231 It is if the defrost control in the real aircraft doesn't provide a de-icing function. But I'm just being picky ... :)
I guess it's a bit like like having autopilot vertical hold and you can choose whether to use it or not.
