Strange sound: constant background metal twitter
-
I am new to Turbo Arrow. Great and fast GA plane.
But I notice strange (and to tell the truth rather annoying for me) barely noticeable but ever-present background sound like a metal rattle or twitter no matter how my RPM/MP is set. I have little experience with turboprop engines so far so I would like to ask if this is normal or do I miss something? Anyway, I have never heard something similar while flying classic piston-engine aircraft.
THXEDIT: you can hear it e.g. in this vid (28:51) https://youtu.be/WecwqRLIQZI?t=1732 but the sound is here barely noticeable. On my PC it is much louder and noticeable.

@vcapra1 It is not like a humming sound one tends not to perceive after a while but it is more like high-frequency very subtle metal rattling or knocking. This is the kind of sound that constantly draw the pilot's attention because it looks not proper for a healthy engine.....
-
@tapi Well, I have just tested the sound from the vid (see link in the first post) on a low-end PC with a low-end headset and do not hear this sound. But on my home high-end PC with headset Steel Arctis 7 the sound in the vid is noticeable.
P.S. I DO NOT use surround sound, just classic stereo. -
@retiredman93231 THX, but nope, it is not a fuel pump. That was the first thing that came to my mind but it has a much louder and more distinct sound.

I finally discovered that the strange sound of PA28 is not associated with the engine! If you set all sound sliders down and only Master sound is set to max (see attachment) and let your aircraft spawn in the air, you can hear two sounds:
- continuous "hsssss" as wind flows around the airframe
- the annoying "ccrrrrr" in the background which appears and disappears. It seems to be more noticeable as you turn your head (I can do that quickly because I use TrackIR).
The sound is more noticeable with higher speeds (cca 110-140 mph) .
I tried few default planes like C172, Bonanza, etc. with the sound settings set as described above I could hear only sound no.1, i.e. "hssssss".

I recorded the sound here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rprzl45vp2M
Unfortunately in the vid the "crrrr" sound in the background is barely noticeable - you can hear it at the beginning and at the end of this very short vid. -
From JF support: I have passed this onto the sound developer for the Arrow/ Turbo Arrow and I will let you know when I hear back from them.
Unfortunately at this time, I can't say how long this may take.Well, to tell the truth that sound drives me nuts :-/ It is not very loud but once one notices it then it is a very very annoying "feature" of otherwise excellent aircraft.
Apparently, the same (or very similar) sound problem was reported with P3D version of the Arrow and Warrior:
http://forum.justflight.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=31617&title=new-piper-warrior-annoying-sound-loopBTW: I have just bought classic non-turbo Arrow III too because I hoped that the "crrrrr" sound is somewhat related only to Turboprop version but nope. The sound is here too :/

Different sound teams on the P3D aircraft, so, whatever it is, straddles two different development studios. Of course, there may be some commonality on the recordings but odd that both teams reproduced this thing.
If it was experienced by all users it would be an easy fix, I think.
-
@derek Well, I think the sound is here for everyone, but not everyone hear it. IMHO it may depends on HW but mostly on "ears sensitivity". As human beings we are not the same.
Would be help if anyone capable of audio editing manage to amplify the "crrrrr" sound so that it stand out more clearly or shift if more to foreground.
BTW: do you hear the "crrrr" sound from the YT vid I linked in the first post? I do. But the vid is not mine. But true in the sim the sound is much more prominent, in the vid it is barely noticeable.

Very good news from developers (info arrived today on my ticket). I am very glad JF managed to found the source of the problem:
Our sound developer has investigated this and believes he has found the source of the sound.
The fix should be included in the next update for the Arrow/ Turbo Arrow/ Warrior.
Unfortunately at this time, I cannot give you a firm time frame on when to expect the update,
