Trim speed when using Alpha yoke or Brave throttle painfully slow
-
Hi,
The trim in the Warrior and in the Arrows as well, is painfully slow. I'm using a Honeycomb Alpha yoke and the Bravo throttle. I stop-watched the time and the trim wheel revolutions it takes to get from full nose down trim to full nose up trim.- With the Alpha yoke trim buttons it takes 38 seconds to get from full nose down trim to full nose up trim.
- With the Bravo throttle trim wheel it takes 69 revolutions.
Trimming the plane for slow flight is awfully painful as I have to constantly hold the Alpha yoke trim buttons for about 10-15 seconds. Using the Bravo throttle trim wheel is almost impossible as it would take at least 20 full revolutions to get the desired trim.
What does work is moving the view to the trim wheel and using the mouse to get the trim in the desired ballpark and fine tuning with the Alpha yoke trim buttons. But it is still a pain.
Is the trim speed I described above how it was designed for the JustFlight planes or do I have a problem with my controller settings / hardware? Both trim controls do work ok in Asobo's default planes, maybe a bit too sensitive.

@petze The trim speed was originally built deliberately slow to allow for users to accurately trim using buttons / keys. Then the core flight model trim was adjusted to remove the two-stage (slow initially, then very fast) trim speed which had been present from earlier sims. Then it was altered again in SU5, leaving aircraft behaving in an incredibly twitch manner when trimmed for some users but not all. I have no idea why.
Anyway, that's where we are at right now with it, I'm expecting to have to re-adjust the trim again next time the core flight model gets adjusted! For your particular issue, open the flight_model.cfg file, scroll down nearly to the bottom and look for the [FLIGHT_TUNING] section. Find the line 'elevator_trim_effectiveness =0.25' and adjust upwards until you find a setting that suits you (actually, I'd start with 1.0 where I had it originally and work downwards because it sounds like that will get you the result you want sooner).

I use the Logitech multi panel along with spad.neXt which allows me to adjust the trim wheel. I have each subtle detent on the wheel equal to 1% of trim movement.
