Piper Turbo Arrow III/IV Autopilot
-
Using Logitech Autopilot panel to control the autopilot function. Previously able to set altitude and vertical speed on Logitech panel and then engage AP. The AP will follow NAV and VS but previously when set altitude was reached it would automatically switch to altitude hold. Now it keeps climbing through set altitude on whatever VS is set and never holds altitude. The only way to achieve altitude hold is to set the VS to zero.

@thomaj019 I raised a ticket at the time and got no responses.
What's the ticket number? If nothing else you should get an automated reply.

@napalm520 I have just raised a 2nd ticket and if I get no response I will request refund. This is shoddy and not fit for purpose if left as is. Cheers buddy, I’ll keep you posted

@derek Re: 54449 - PA28 Turbo Arrow patch v0.3.0 Autopilot
This was the reply. Not sure if you received it or not, but is this issue only experienced with Logitech hardware or something universal?
There is a note about Autopilot in the latest update:
Thank you for your email.
I have passed this over to the development team to take a look into.
As soon as I hear back from them I shall let you know.
Unfortunately, at this time I cannot say how long this will take.
Kind Regards,
Mark

@derek Hi Derek, here is the ticket number I raised earlier.
Ticket Received - [56724] Autopilot will not follow altitude settingI have also tried with my Honeycomb Bravo which works as expected with other GA aircraft. I am using Spad.Next to control both the Logitech Multpanel and HC Bravo using Simconnect events / Lvars as required by specific aircraft. The aircraft correctly sees the ALT configured by either device as it also correctly sees the VS configured by either device but overshoots the desired aircraft and continues to climb / dive past target ALT when ALT hold is selected. Only way I have found to maintain target ALT is to quickly change VS to 0 when target ALT is reached. It then maintains it until you need to change it.
I know by default the real aircraft doesn’t have ALT mode and you guys are striving for realism but you have incorporated a coupler fudge according to your documents to work around this which doesn’t seem to function as I was expecting.
I also own the Carenado Arrow and that works as expected with the various APs installed. I specifically bought the JF Turbo Arrow as it was documented to have the GTN 750 option and I am a premium purchaser of that AP so was surprised to not have full functionality. I had considered the purchase of your Warrior but this missing functionality has made me reconsider!.
Please advise a resolution to this issue or I shall be contacting customer services for a full refund.

Hi all,
All three PA28s are currently undergoing another round of fixes and improvements for feedback received since the last updates. The next updates are due to be released by early next week, unless Sim Update 6 causes any significant new issues.
It's always tricky to ensure full compatibility between a highly custom-coded aircraft and the variety of hardware and control software combinations out there, especially without access to all that hardware for testing. Worth noting that the Carenado aircraft aren't a like-for-like comparison as they largely reuse default system code.
Thanks,

@martyn Hi Martin, I have had various email communications today with your colleague Mark on the subject and he indicated that Piper updates wouldn’t happen until post Hawk release. I have tried also flying this solely within the aircraft as far as autopilot modes are concerned and find all sorts of issues with AP. Switching to HDG mode often causes the aircraft to roll and pitch violently into a spiral dive of death. This really is the worst aircraft I have purchased!
Please advise approximate date for expected update release and whether autopilot fixes are included or arrange for a refund.
Thanks
Kind regards
John

@thomaj019 Hi John, as per my reply above, we are looking at early next week for the PA28 updates, pending any significant new issues caused by Sim Update 6.
Mark will be happy to arrange the refund if you reply to the support ticket with that request.

@martyn Hi Martyn, I tried to check my open ticket today and found it had been closed without notification.
As you are aware, the issue has not been resolved and closing the ticket without agreement from your customer, whilst the issue hadn’t been resolved is poor customer service to say the least.
I have therefore replied to Mark using my last received email from him asking for a full refund to be issued as per your previous message.
I had previously opted to hold out for the update promised following the SU6 update, but closing my open ticket without notice has prompted my refund request.
I will repurchase this aircraft only after confirmation that these issues have been completely addressed.
Thanks
John
