Does anybody else feel that the sound of the arrow IV are 'flat'? Like there is no bass vibrations from the engine?

I can't reproduce that here. Are you hearing the same thing on the Turbo Arrow III?

I was expecting more after the preview videos.

I would say something is missing / not quite right. (Turbo IV)

So this is just the Turbo Arrow IV and not the Turbo Arrow III too?

The preview videos were recorded using the same sound set but we'll investigate.

I haven't tried the turbo III yet, so I can't help there I'm afraid.

@Martyn Yes, I do. I think both plains sounds like the virus pipistral. Just too light for the arrow. I have the non turbo arrow III too. No problem there.

                Exterior sounds are fine.

A solution I've got from the msfs forum:

FWIW I’ve got to the bottom of these audio issues. It appears to be the ‘Headphone Simulation’ option in the audio menu. I’ve always had this ‘on’ and indeed, if it isn’t on in the original Arrow the engine noise is overbearing.

In the Turbo version (both the III & IV) with this option on it sounds like an over zealous hand fan. With ‘Headphone Simulation’ off it sounds awesome, and exactly as I expected it to.

That explains it - I've got headphone simulation disabled. We'll investigate.

I must admit, I noticed this too, with both Turbo's, the throaty/fruity bass the arrow III has is defo missing. But...ON IT already, best developer ever.

That is Normal behavior when you have set on simulation headphones in simulator sound menu.
When you’ll set is off sound will be without simulated headphones.

Question is it possible to control that option in cockpit? Perhaps clicking in audio headphones plug on the headphone jack in the lower left corner under the yoke we could simulate taking off and putting on the headphones?

That will be very immersive option 🙂

That's a feature that we looked to implement but unfortunately Asobo provided no way to control the headphone simulation option.

Something that you should never forget when comparing the sounds non-turbo vs turbo : even though they are both O-360’s producing 200 hp, the turbo is a Continental SIX cylinder engine while the non-turbo is a Lycoming FOUR cylinder engine... that makes all the difference in running sound and smoothness.
Even though I have ever only ever flown the non-turbo IV (please Martyn, could you give us this one also ? 😉 ), we also had a Dakota (the Piper one, not the Douglas !) at our school, and this six cylinder engine definitely sounded different, certainly better for the ears when doing a long trip. 😣

Where can I find this simulated headphone option?
