Immersion killed due to bad ice effect on static prop cones
-
Hi everyone. I really like blacksquare’s addons. Really immersive and realistic. If there wasn’t one issue:
When ice builds up on the prop cone which is animated as a static object once the propeller spins, the ice seems “steady” and not spinning with the propeller cone and seems like every other static, iced part of the airplane. I know black square explains the use of use a static element there due to rendering issues, but making it a moving part like in the piper (turbo) arrow from just flight, the prop cone is a moving, spinning part and doesn’t seem blurry. Thus the ice there builds up realistically as a ring around the cone and not like a still, static part like on the fuselage or windshield i.e.. Even the ring could at least be animated on the static cone so it seems realistic. But of course a fully moving, spinning cone is the perfect solution.
Unfortunately this is with all airplanes from black square with props and it’s really really sad that this issue exists as I loved flying with their otherwise perfect planes. But this kills the immersion for me. Would be very proud if it could somehow be changed with the next Update!

I would think switching from the cockpit to the external view to see the front of the prop hubs is a bigger immersion killer. But I guess if you look hard enough, you can see them from the pit.
It’s not about staring at the plane from the outside, it’s about visual consistency. Since the spinners are part of the pilot's field of view, a static ice effect on a rotating part looks like a glaring oversight. Black Square is known for 'study-level' systems, so the visuals should match that level of detail. As I mentioned, Just Flight has already proven it’s possible to do it right.
