Packs without APU?

Is the APU supposed to be on the entire flight? If I turn it off the packs shut off in flight.

Have you tried the four Engine Air switches on the overhead panel?

When climb thrust has been selected, you reconfigure the bleeds/packs as follows:
ENG AIR 1,2,3,4 - ON
APU AIR - OFF
CABIN AIR - FRESH
PACKS 1 & 2 - ON

When cleared to flight level:
APU - OFF
