RJ unable to intercept the localizer
-
So far, I conducted six full flights in the RJ, 5 of which were ILS approches. 2 out of those did not require the HDG HOLD mode to intercept the localize and the aircraft nicely captured.
Twice, however, the procedure required the use of HDG HOLD and I flew on both occasions a nice and shallow (less than 45-degree) intercept angle. On both occasions, I enabled the VOR LOC mode in advance. On both occasions, as soon as the localizer comes alive, the aircraft turns in the exact opposit direction, away from the localizer. A manual landing was eventually required.
Absolutely unreliable. My initial good impression of this product has completely faded. The aircraft's inability to fly an ILS approach is concerning, given the fact it's not a new product but one that has been out for a while and has seen many patches and fixes. While we can play with the boarding music, an actually important aspect of flying an airplane, the ability to fly an ILS approach, is lacking.
At this point, I regret my purchase.
