The FCOM states that ENG AIR must be switched OFF if engine anti-ice is used for take-off/landing.
The FCOM also states that if ground de-icing was carried out, APU AIR must not be used on the subsequent flight and may only be used if the APU inlet drains are clear during the PFI on the turnaround after that flight.Usually, ENG AIR - OFF for take-off means that ENG AIR 4 is left ON to pressurize the outflow/discharge valve (which requires pneumatic pressure).
In the JF RJ, the N1 SET displays flashes in the following configuration:
ENG AIR 1,2,3 - OFF
ENG AIR 4 - ON
ENG ANT-ICE 1,2,3,4 - ON
PACK 1 & 2 - OFF
CABIN AIR - FRESHIs this behavior really correct or is there some obscure FCOM information that I missed?

Thanks for reporting this. I seem to recall that there is quite a lot of different permutations that would cause the N1 SET values to flash, but I would agree that it doesn't quite make sense for them to be flashing in that scenario. I've logged this on our internal bug tracker and we'll take a look to see if the logic has been confused somewhere.

Thanks!
The RJ is a quirky airplane (compared to the 737 and A320) so it's easy to get things wrong, both in terms of procedures and systems design.
