FS Traffic and Multiplayer in MSFS 2024
-
Since the multiplayer mode settings have changed in MSFS 2024, there is a problem running FS Traffic and multiplayer mode simultaneously.
Unlike in MSFS 2020, in MSFS 2024, to see other users, you not only need to have the Multiplayer options enabled in the settings, but you also need to make sure that the "Air Traffic" setting is not OFF in the graphics settings. (It's recommended to set it to "High" or "Ultra" for optimal visibility of other players), since in this version of the simulator, this setting controls visibility not only of AI traffic, but also of other players.
Furthermore, for FS Traffic to work correctly, this setting must be OFF, as indicated in the manual.
So, in principle, there is no way to have AI traffic using FS Traffic and simultaneously see other players.
While I understand that the fault isn't JustFlight's and is a limitation of the simulator (I don't understand why Asobo introduced this useless and confusing change), is there a workaround to achieve both at the same time?
Thank You.

Yes, the MSFS traffic settings aren't ideal in MSFS 2024, as they seem to have gone down the approach of having fewer, more generic settings that affect multiple things, rather than having many, more focused settings that control specific things. Feedback on this has been passed onto Asobo/Microsoft by various developers and users, so hopefully, it's something that will see an improvement in a future Sim Update.
For the time being, if you'd like to use the FS Traffic models for multiplayer model matching, I would recommend disabling the FS Traffic module in the Traffic Control Centre, and then re-enabling the default MSFS 2024 live traffic. That will then allow you to see FS Traffic models used for model matching with the default MSFS traffic system, whilst also still seeing multiplayer traffic.

I am also enjoying 2024.
Furthermore, I completely agree with your opinion.
At first, I was confused when I turned off the “Air Traffic” option and couldn't see the multi-users.
I still don't understand why they tied the multi-users to the “Air Traffic” option.
I made a suggestion to ASOBO, but I don't know when they will change it.
I think including multi-users in this option was clearly the wrong choice.

Hi @Mark
With the introduction of more options in traffic settings introduced with the SU3 update, are there any changes we can make to the settings, so that we can have traffic controlled by FS Traffic and see other players at the same time or do we have to keep using the trick you told us about in your previous message?
Thank You. -
Yes, it's possible to see FS Traffic generated traffic and multiplayer traffic at the same time in both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024.
In order to see FS Traffic generated traffic, you'll need to have the FS Traffic Module option enabled on the Options page of the Traffic Control Centre.
In order to see multiplayer traffic, you'll need to have set the following options within MSFS:
- "Multiplayer" option must be enabled (for MSFS 2024, the multiplayer setting lives here: Settings > General > Online > Data Connection),
- "Aircraft Traffic Quantity" must be set to LOW or higher (for MSFS 2024, the multiplayer setting lives here: Settings > General > Graphics > Advanced Settings
- In the Flight Conditions window, "LIVE" or "ALL PLAYERS" must be enabled (for MSFS 2024, the Flight Conditions panel is located at the top right corner of the world map page).
There's an old thread on the offical MSFS forums that includes some screenshots of each of those options if that helps (note, it does show the pre-SU3 settings though): https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/msfs-2024-multiplayer-settings-group-flights-msfs-2024/673576
Note also that the model matching with multiplayer traffic is entirely controlled within the simulator.
Hope that helps.
