For the autopilot to capture the localiser, the following steps are required:
- The autopilot must be engaged (IN indicator white)
- The correct frequency for the ILS must be tuned into the NAV radios
- The NAV selector must be rotated to the LOC position (GP if glideslope is to be captured too, and rotate the pitch selector to APPROACH for glideslope guidance).
- Pull the autopilot TRACK knob up (ILS should be indicated on the artificial feel indicator)
Once within intercept range of the localiser and the aircraft in the configuration listed above, the aircraft will automatically capture the localiser.
