Morse Code IDENT via radio for VOR/NDB
-
Morse IDENT for VOR very faint - barely audible. Seems too quiet to me. And the ADF, even though the needle on the gauge was pointing right at the NDB, indicating I was picking it up, I couldn't hear any IDENT code. Instead, when I move the switch to the SPEAKER or PHONE position, I hear like a short and long pulse of static. But it's mostly unintelligible. If I turn off, static noises go away. If I enable headphone simulation, I can then very very faintly hear the ADF, and VOR slightly increases. But even then, IDENT over the engine sounds is near impossible. Can it be brought out in the mix a bit? Be helpful.

Unfortunately, this has been a limitation of the core simulator since the release of MSFS 2020. There have been several threads created for this on the official MSFS forum from users requesting the volume to be increased, so we can only hope that MS/Asobo can improve this in future Sim Updates.

Okay - for me, this aircraft is more faint though than others where I've used that approach - primarily to NDBs. Are these tones "broadcast" as ATC like audio from the sim?

Yes, we receive that audio from the simulator and trigger it at the correct time. The volume of the Morse code ident should be the same across all aircraft; however, as the overall volume of the aircraft's sound set may differ between aircraft, that could make the Morse sound louder or quieter in different aircraft.
