I have seen a few topics about this here and there but nothing that resembles a solution.

After some time flying, the HSI will start to drift, leaving the heading bug at a distinctly different angle than the one followed by the autopilot (this disparity happens regardless of the value for hdg_ref_var if added to systems.cfg). Unlike the DI, I cannot see a way to recalibrate the HSI to fix this other than pressing the 'D' key which obviously breaks immersion (it may as well not be simulated at all if that's the only fix, surely?)

    Am I missing something?

Looking through the code, the way the HSI has been set up in a way that it shouldn't exhibit any drift, but that's not to say there hasn't been something changed in a recent sim update, or perhaps a GPS may be interfering with the code.

Could you please let us know which simulator you were using when you observed this behaviour, and what (if any) GPS was selected?

I’m seeing this too, in the Arrow, I’m in FS24/SU2. The aircraft does follow a heading, but always about 10 degrees off from what the HSI heading indicator is saying.

I thought to look at the still confusingly named Gyro Drift compensation in Assistence setting, but cant work out if I need that Enabled or not - to be clear, I do want the Assistence to help me. I also can’t seem to find the correct keybind, I can’t figure out what they’ve called it … (hints appreciated!)

Anyway, so yes: seeing the same.

(Edit: this is with the most recent JustFlight update at time of writing)
