Release of BlackSquare delayed until SU2?
-
That's generally accurate. When I installed the SU2 Beta (which is publicly available at any time to any number of my users) I could not believe the number of things that were broken, like light intensities, positions, rotations, etc. Given those updates would represent the debut of all my aircraft in MSFS 2024, I didn't want users with SU2 Beta to think that it was only my aircraft that were broken.
-
@Black-Square Rightfully so !
My point: After SU-2 there will be SU-3, LOLOliver
-
Trust me, I've had the same thoughts. I am often guilty of "no time is perfect" in my own life, but I also survived some twelve Sim Updates in MSFS 2020, with the only notable one being the WT GNS 430/530 fix that affected all of my aircraft. I just found SU2 to present an unreasonable number and severity of new bugs at the time.
-
Just curious @Black-Square is Microsoft aware of this and are you able to contact them about it? I assume it should not be the case that you go bug hunting everytime a new SU is released?
-
Unless I misunderstand your question, this is indeed the life of a software developer. The beta branch of most software is often riddled with bugs, and finding them is a crowdsourced endeavor. The release builds might appear more stable, but they are never truly "finished", and contain bugs held over from the beta, previous releases, or even since early development. I have written workarounds for bugs in my aircraft that have existed in Flight Simulator since at least the early 90's. It's a endless game of whack-a-mole. Luckily, some of us find some strange kind of enjoyment in playing that game. While it can be frustrating, I must admit that I am one of them.

The Starship is also being released for 2020, correct?
-
That is correct!
-
Is the professional series going to be released for msfs2020 as well?
-
Absolutely. I do not have any aircraft in development right now or planned for the future that would be MSFS 2024 exclusive.
-
@Black-Square Huh, I remember seeing that the professional series of the Caravan, King Air, Baron, and Bonanza will be 2024 exclusive. Nice to see that they'll be available for 2020, even if I don't really use it anymore. As long as they have full support for 2024(updated flight models utilizing the new 2024 SDK functions, walkaround interactivity, etc), I really couldn't worry less about them being for 2020 as well.
