Working Title GNS 530 and Autopilot Quirks?
-
Hey all, first post here.
Been flying the Warrior for a bit but only recently started using the GPS and AP.
To make sure I got it right, the "Working Title" GPS is actually a free modification download? I haven't downloaded it but the GNS 530 does show up in the Warrior; if I install the "Working Title" one, it will have more functions and will work with the Warrior right out of the box?
Secondly, I'm not sure how the real AP is supposed to work by not controlling Pitch, but over here I'm having a hard time controlling my altitude when toggling the AP to HDG mode (haven't tested the other modes). For reference, I was flying with the GPS 100 and HI instruments:
-
The AP "locks" my pitch controls whenever I turn it on, so I can't really control my Altitude by changing my Attitude (pitch) manually unless I disable the AP (intended?);
-
When I toggle the Alt Hold, it ocasionally fails to maintain Altitude (generally after a power change), starting a shallow but continuous climb / descent even with "Alt Hold" toggled on. Ended up climbing about 1000 feet during my last flight.
Is it a bug or am I'm missing something that's actually intended?
Extra: any hopeful ETA on when the Warrior is coming to MSFS 2024? I'll refrain from moving over until then xD
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!
The Working Title GNS530 is included within the base simulator and is available to all users in our PA28s without any extra download being required. There is a free Working Title GNS430/530 download available on the in-game marketplace, however, as this is an older version of the product we do not recommend downloading this if you plan to use the GNS430/530 with our PA28s. The code in our PA28s ensures that the very latest version of the Working Title GNS430/530 is being used by default.
The autopilot logic in the PA28s does vary depending on which GPS unit is fitted (if any). The PA28s support a "No GPS" option as well as the Working Title GNS430/530, PMS50 GTN650/750 and TDS GTNXi (payware). Each of the GPS units overrules our custom autopilot code in the PA28s with its own custom autopilot code, which is why the behaviour varies based on which unit is selected. We will soon be spending more time with the PA28s as we update them in MSFS 2020 and make them MSFS 2024 compatible, at which time we will be revisiting the autopilot logic and investigating any improvements we can make.
We'll be sharing more news on the PA28s and the MSFS 2024 compatibility updates next month.

Perfect, thank you! I'm excited for more news on the Warrior.
I've been flying with the G530 (w/o G430) lately and the autopilot altitude / V/S hold worked as it should 100% of the time, so maybe it was something I've done wrong before.
If I may though, using this same thread, I've been running into other problems though. There seems to be a bug somewhere in the aircraft ground handling / tires friction.
At some windy conditions I cannot do the engine run-up check because even with full brakes applied, the plane starts moving / drifting when I increase the engine RPM.
Also, sometimes when coming to a stop, it feels like the nose gear gets stuck to one of the sides. Even when applying full opposite side brake and rudder, the plane continues turning the other way when I throttle up, until it gets enough speed to "break out" of it.
Are you guys aware of such or simillar issues? I can send you a video showcasing the issue for it to make more sense.
Thanks again!
