Engine Anti-Ice
-
Hello dear Team,
one question regarding Engine Anti-Ice:
why must Engine Anti-Ice be selected „ON“ during the cockpit preparation flows and after shutdown?
Thank you and best regards
-
The ENG A/I is confirmed switched ON during the pre-flight checks. The valves open during start to reduce the pressures created within the compressor which could be harmful to the Engine (They're only little Engines!). They're switched OFF after each ENG start.

Hello Ryan,
thanks for your reply.
Is Engine Anti-Ice switched on after shutdown ( as the checklist implies ) for the same reason?
Best regards
-
@Diamondstar Correct :) They're switched ON after shutdown in preparation for the next ENG Start cycle.
Behind the scenes, even if you forget to switch them on, the logic will open the valve when required, but you'll get a caution message. I'm not sure if this is replicated in the MSFS Aircraft.
