In three flights now, I cannot get the "APP" mode to activate when intercepting the ILS (app 10 miles out). I believe everything is set correctly, it just wont come on. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

You can reference my video. The approach mode does not engage here when flying the ILS to 10R at PDX. I kept pushing the APP button, but nothing... -

It'll consistently capture the localizer but it has trouble with the glideslope if you're too far out. I think it has to be within one dot.

The correct way to do an ILS on the avro is to arm VOR LOC first. After capturing the localizer you can arm APP. LOC1 or 2 won't switch to GlideLOC* until glideslope is captured. Glide slope isn't considered captured until you are on the glideslope, not a dot above or a dot below, but ON the glideslope. Hope this helps.

I've just tried your route and had no trouble arming approach, capturing localiser and glide scope.

Edit: just looking at your video again - you only have AP2 engaged and your video doesn't show if you've dialled in the ILS on that copilot side. I'm not an expert but that's all I could think of.

Thanks everyone! I think I found the problem. I had AP2 engaged instead of AP1.
