Takeoff trim, F/D settings, setting the data card
-
Hi folks,
I know that pressing on the MAC setting on the EFB automatically sets the correct T/O trim setting but how do we know how many units equate to what MAC % so that I can set the trim manually?
Also, what is the typical way of setting up the vertical flight director guidance for takeoff in the 146? In the Dash 8 they select the TO/GA switches but that doesn't seem to do anything on the 146 F/D.
Also, the data card shows the data for the current weight and not the anticipated landing weight - so how can I select the anticipated landing weight on it to set the correct speeds for the approach?

An "Elevator trimmer setting for take-off" table can be found on page 246 of the 146 Professional Operations Manual. This will provide you with the required trim position based on the CG% SMC. I believe the CG% SMC would be obtained via the flight plan.
The normal procedure for the flight director bars is to set them to 10 degrees nose up for takeoff. This can be done using the PITCH control on the Autopilot Controller on the pedestal. After takeoff, the flight director bars will then provide pitch information based on the active vertical autopilot mode.
By default, the speeds flipchart will be automatically synchronised to the aircraft's weight. So when you are on approach to the destination airport, the flipchart will display the correct speeds for the aircraft's current weight. You can disable this automatic logic via the "FLIPCHART WT SYNC" option on the EFB (Aircraft > Configuration Menu). With this option disabled, the correct weights must be found manually on the flipchart by clicking the left/right arrows at the top of the flipchart.
Hope that helps.
