Extreme turbulence on final
-
I recently bought the PA-28 R Turbo Arrow III/IV as well as the Arrow III.
My MSFS settings are set to realistic turbulance. I've never noticed a problem with this in any other planes. I found the Arrow III quite unpredictable on final when there was some wind, and I just flew in to Catalina Island in the Turbo Arrow, and it was extremely difficult to control on final. It was being thrown around like a ragdoll - I mean really being thrown around. I Google searched it, and I see another topic on here going back several years talking about it. Is this an issue with the aircraft that has being there for years, or was it fixed, but is an issue again due to MSFS changes? I suppose whenever I want to fly these planes I will need to remember to go in to my MSFS settings, and change the turbulance setting from the realistic setting that I use for all other planes. What are other user's thoughts, and is this a known issue with a plan to fix it?

From the feedback we have received from real-world pilots on our testing teams, they find the "Realistic" turbulence setting to be too aggressive in the simulator, so we do typically recommend using the "Low" or "Medium" turbulence options for a more realistic experience. The turbulence setting will likely have quite a large effect on your experience at airports like Catalina which have large cliffs next to the airport.
We do also have some improved flight models in testing for each of the PA28 variants that takes advantage of the latest flight model parameters in the simulator. Once we are happy with these flight models we will include them in an update to all our PA28s.

Thanks for your reply. I just bought Active Sky today which I had used in FSX and P3D, and was looking for an excuse to buy for MSFS. Using it today so far, suggests turbulence/wind unpredictability is significantly toned down from MSFS's own weather with realistic turbulance. I had Active Sky set to realistic. The PA28 Turbo dealt with what turbulance there was with Active Sky the same as the other small aircraft I tried it with.
