After latest update UNS-1 still messes up MSFS Flight Type
-
If you start a flight cold and dark at an airport parking spot, power up and load a flight plan the MSFS flight type is set in a VOR flight following mode. Once you enter a departing runway in the UNS the flight type cancels. The only flight type that can be selected is "Request IFR Clearance". Was really hoping that little issue would have been fixed.
Update:
Just setup another flight. This time prior to selecting departure runway, I requested permission for a north departure. Then input my runway. The MSFS flight type of VOR flight following remained. However during flight I received NO ATC flight following or the ability to contact nearest airports for arrival runway assignment. -
This is intentional behaviour based on user feedback that inputting a flight plan into the UNS-1 should then synchronise with the MSFS flight plan system, allowing you to request IFR clearance for that flight plan.
We have logged your feedback and we will look into this, but unfortunately, I suspect think this is going to be the case of we either synchronise the UNS-1 flight plan with the MSFS flight plan allow for IFR clearances to be requested (as per the current implementation), or we remove the the ability for the UNS-1 to synchronise with the MSFS flight plan so the MSFS ATC will only recognised the flight plan created in the main menu prior to the flight.
For the time being, if you wish to perform a VOR to VOR flight, we would recommend either disabling the "FMS Navigation" option on the EFB, or using the 'Modern' FMS option. That will then ensure the UNS-1 has no control over the MSFS ATC and will allow you to request VFR/IFR clearance depending on what is set in the MSFS main menu.

It seems I am unable to deselect the FMS Navigation option in the EFB. Any ideas why?
Thanks for the input. I'm trying my best to understand why this user feedback request was needed. Hopefully others will help me understand how this makes the Classic FMS better.

We are aware of an issue that is preventing the "FMS Navigation" from being deselected in the 146 passenger variants. For a temporary workaround, please see: https://community.justflight.com/post/28139
Synchronising the UNS-1 with the MSFS flight plan system allows users to request IFR clearance for whatever route is entered in the UNS-1. If the UNS-1 didn't connect with the MSFS ATC system and a flight was loaded without a flight plan set in the main menu, then inputting a flight plan on the UNS-1 would prevent users from requesting an IFR clearance through the MSFS ATC menu.

It seems to me that it makes more sense to do what I've always done with planes that have an FMC. Just have simbrief save two formats, one for MSFS main menu and ATC, and the exact same one for the FMC. Then ATC does what I want, and so does the plane's own FMC. The way you guys have it set with the UNS causes problems that don't need to be. It works fine with the WT FMC, why not just keep using the same idea with the UNS?

Last question, comment or complaint...promise. Why can't it allow both MSFS flight types? There is a big difference in selecting an IFR or (Direct/VOR) flight type at the World Menu. I generally avoid the IFR flight type because the ATC instructions usually just ruin the flight. The (Direct/VOR) type gives you all the chatter, the ability to contact ATC for landing instructions etc but not get any foolish altitude demands. Forcing an IFR ONLY flight type just to sync the flight plan just doesn't seem necessary. NO OTHER GPS or flight management system makes you use a specific flight type. I just think that was a bad decision to make.

The ATC instructions wont ruin your flight plan. asobo fixed ATC with the last Sim Update. ATC will assign you an approach with plenty of time for preparing and descent. Also Just Flight you nailed it with this Update!! This caught me by surprise that you can now request an IFR Clearance from atc after setting up the Flightplan manual in the UNS. DONT REMOVE THIS FEATURE

@rbringh Fellow my Tips and you will love the BAE more. Plan your Flight on skyvector.com
,put manual the route in the UNS and dont select an approach yet and request, after setting up the UNS, your IFR Clearance from ATC. For cruise level im doing this method distance x 100 feet but if you are on airways you should be minimum at the height from Airways and you have to manual request from atc your cruise levelI did so far 2 flights now and everything went super smooth, even after missed approach, i got from atc the correct missed approach from this approach and to my surprise they gave me an approach to the opposite runway
