Vulcan K2 and Airshow Assistant
-
Hi. At the moment, to fly the tanker version, I have to change it via the cockpit tablet and select K2 and then operate the refuel hose. I have seen a preview video that shows that Touching Cloud are soon to release an update for their Airshow Assistant whereby the wingmen can be different aircraft.
Would it be possible to have the K2 as a separate model within the Vulcan addon so that I could fly a Tornado, select Airshow Assistant so that the Vulcan is just ahead of me and simulate an air to air refuel? The way it stands at the moment means that I could select a Vulcan but not the tanker version. It may be that the K2 would need the hose trailing already for it to be seen. Yours hopefully, Robert -
@Rabski Without testing the upcoming Airshow Assistant build ourselves to see what the behaviour looks like in the sim, I would assume we would need to have a separate Vulcan K2 aircraft with a trailing hose that is permanently extended. We likely wouldn't do that as it would mean that loading into the aircraft as a player would cause the refuelling hose to be sunk into the ground.
There may be ways of being able to trigger the refuelling hose using an LVar when the Vulcan is used as an Ai aircraft, but we would have to confirm that ourselves before saying so for definite.
We do have this feedback logged, so we'll see if there's anything we can do to make this work.

Hi Mark. Thanks for your reply. Please see the attached images so that I can explain the idea. As it stands, Airshow Assistant can only spawn the same aircraft that is being flown. When I fly the Vulcan as a K2, if I extend or retract the hose, the AI Vulcan copies. In the upcoming update, I should be able to fly a Typhoon and set Airshow Assistant as No4 in a diamond formation and a Vulcan K2 as No 1. Then when I instruct Airshow Assistant to formate on me, a Vulcan K2 with hose already extended would appear near me and then move in front of me. I could then extend my probe and start refuelling.
I am sure the idea is sound, it only needs the K2, probably with the extended hose to be available as an option on the load page as opposed to the tablet. I use the Typhoon as an example although other aircraft capable of air to air refuelling such as the Harrier could be used. Thanks in anticipation. Robert
