How to fly multiple legs with traffic
-
Hi Guys,
I've been using FS Traffic for quiet a while and while it has not been perfect it mostly works good. The only thing i struggle with is how to i deal with traffic when i do multiple flights without closing the sim or going back to the menu (Like doing a short turnaround). AT first i thought i could kust enter the next destination in the widget and be done with it, but that gives very mixed to bad results.
Do i need to regenerate?
How do you deal with this?
Thanks in advance.

@Dutch-vdM Apologies for the belated reply. In order to see traffic across multiple legs, or when flying to an alternate airport, you just need to manually enter the new destination airport in the FS Traffic In-Game Menu and then click the "Confrim" button. That will set the new destination airport in the FS Traffic module, and traffic will be generated on route, and at the new destination airport.
If you don't see traffic across multiple legs or when diverting to an alternate airport after following the steps above, there may be an issue elsewhere that is causing traffic not to generate. If this is the case, could you kindly contact Just Flight support with a description of the issue you are having and they will be able to help troubleshoot the issue and will likely ask for logs generated by FS Traffic so they can see what may be causing the issue: https://www.justflight.com/support

How far away from the destination airport do you need to be for this to work?

You should see traffic generated at the destination airport regardless of your location when the destination airport is set in the FS Traffic In-Game Menu. The only time you may notice some issues is if you set your destination when you are say 5nm away from the destination airport, and you will likely notice the FS Traffic aircraft are still generating at the destination airport and won't start taxiing for a few minutes.
I personally always set the destination airport when I'm setting up the aircraft at the gate, but as long as you set your destination airport prior to approx. 40 miles from your destination, you should see Ai traffic generated and active upon your arrival.

Ok, may I ask why there is no option to let FS-traffic generate for all airports within a certain range?

This isn't an option mainly due to performance considerations.
As a bit of an insight, every time Ai traffic has to be generated at an airport in the sim the FS Traffic module has to process the 70,000+ schedules included with FS Traffic to find the correct schedules for that airport on that day of the week and current time, then it has to find the correct aircraft model and livery, before then generating it in the simulator. That's a simplistic take on it, but there is a lot more that happens in the background that needs to be achieved just to get an Ai aircraft to generate, and then there are extra processes for situations where aircraft with alternate or fallback liveries need to be processed and assigned etc.
As I'm sure you can imagine, that is a lot of data that has to be processed for every airport and every time those processes occur that has an impact on the performance in the simulator. This performance impact can be in the form of up to a 1-minute freeze of the simulator for the largest airports, or constant micro-stutters throughout the flight depending on how we code the data to be processed.
This was an area we spent a significant amount of time on during the testing process of FS Traffic, and the current solution is the best solution we are able to come up with that allows the simulator to feel alive with Ai traffic with the correct aircraft models and liveries.
I hope that helps.
