cruise traffic?
-
@art_p thank you. appreciate the info.
i hopped in a fast jet and took it from kewy (key west intl) up to kdab. ripping along at fl280, there were no other planes visible at any point during my flight. in fact, after landing at kdab, there are no planes anywhere.
the manual specifically states, "You are all set! AI Traffic will now be generated at the departure airport, on your route and at the destination airport".
basically, this just isn't happening. i guess i will have to revert back to fsltl and take the performance hit because this product absolutely is not doing what it says it is supposed to do. maybe their marketing team should consider renaming this product to "fs no-traffic".
in the meantime, i have a ticket open with jf support but you know how email support is. 3 days go by and they get back to you with, "did you reboot your computer?" :|

@scoobyx Justflight has been pretty good with answering my questions, but you will probably get questions from them before you get answers. I think Fsltl shows a lot more cruising traffic because it uses real-time traffic, and this also may be the cause of more computer loads. Odds are that you won't see any traffic at KDAB because airline traffic is sparse in real life as well as in FS Traffic. While it's a very busy airport, it's mostly GA/flight school traffic. I'm certainly looking forward to FS Traffic adding GA aircraft and curious about how they will schedule those flights. If you don't see aircraft at the destination that should be present per the FS Traffic Control Centre, then there is a problem. In my case, it is not a problem.

@art_p cool, thanks. we'll see what support can turn up. kdab had some gates although i realize now that may not be the case irl so maybe the program was doing what it was supposed to afterall.
i took a quick hop from kpdk down to katl. when i showed up at katl there were 2 planes on approach and two taking off. there were also 3-4 planes at gates. there should be 30x that number all day long and planes are generally stacked for landing so that you see strings of planes on final approach, at least 4-5 for each of the two main runways.
i guess i will need to mess with settings (i was reading about upping the schedule time). i was hoping for something a little more plug&play. still nothing in cruise but i may be expecting too much out of the program. i had read about them wanting to add ga traffic which would be really nice.
thanks again for your help.

Hello,
Cruise traffic should spawn somewhere around your location by default every 3 mins. That doesn't always mean it'll spawn somewhere ahead of your flight path but it should show on the VFR map. You can change this value in the Traffic Control Centre options page under "Time Between Cruise Traffic Spawning" I personally use 1 min.
@Art_P We have contrail effects forced on above 25,000ft, so you should always see them if aircraft are present. I may look at changing this in future as code does exist to take in account for moisture etc. It was never clear whether this would work with AI though, many effects don't with default code.
@scoobyx To you last post, please go to the settings in the Traffic Control Centre and set the wingspan options to compatibility mode. Many airports in MSFS are poorly set up and the gates cannot handle the true wingspans of the aircraft. We may set this as default in future.
As for arrival traffic, you'll see landing aircraft spawn in the local area every 3 mins at the busiest times. We found this gave the best spacing and reduced the number of go arounds.

@jf-john thanks, john. i went ahead and set that time between cruise down to 1 minute but i continue to run into issues.
i just loaded into the sim at kecp. i was going to do a short hop across the coast to kpns. the moment i loaded onto the tarmac, i saw a number of southwest 737s sitting at gates (just like i would expect irl). i opened the in-game panel and input kpns as my destination and looked overhead and actually saw 2 or 3 contrails appear. i figured i had this thing working, finally! then something on my plane froze and i had to back out to the main menu. on 4 subsequent attempts, i don't see any traffic anywhere. nothing on the ground at kecp and nothing in the air. i didn't do anything differently.
this is starting to become pretty burdensome for something that should just work, gotta be honest.

@scoobyx I understand that you departed KECP with KPNS as your destination, then after arriving at KPNS, you again input KPNS as your destination. Why? Perhaps having the same airport as departure and destination will cause FS Traffic to crash? I find that anytime FS Traffic crashes, you have to restart MSFS before it will work again.
-
@scoobyx It sounds as if the FS Traffic module crashed for some reason when you went back into the main menu. TBH we've had difficulty weeding out the causes for this but with the coming V1.0.6 things seem much more stable. What aircraft were you using at the time? Any payware scenery etc? With that info we can try to replicate the issue.

@jf-john john, thanks for your reply. i am happy to provide as much info as i can.
i was using the new aero vodochody in this instance although i have repeated this issue over and over using multiple planes from my hangar.
i have payware scenery that loads each time the sim starts. on this particular flight, neither my starting or destination airports (kecp -> kpns) are payware.
i have seen discussions around gsx potentially causing issues. i do have gsx and am running it. i would rather not uninstall it (it takes forever and a day to install) but i believe i can suspend it. please let me know if you would like me to do so.

@scoobyx Thank you for the info.
GSX would only push MSFS over its object limit but it wouldn't crash the module, hence you should still see aircraft at other airports with fewer objects on a new flight. We did identify some issues that could stop FS Traffic detecting the airport location which is fixed in V1.0.6.
Looking forward to your feedback.
