Make GNS 530 fully RNAV capable
-
The WTT 530 is fully capable of performing a RNAV approach and capturing GP. Only issue is the Glide button only woks when an ILS frequency is tuned. Is it possible to have it work once GPS has detected a LPV Rnav Initial Approach Fix?
WTT says:
For RNAV it must be a LP+V type approach. The GNS will show you what type it is after you enter the IA portion of the approach. If it is an LPV approach as you enter the FA portion your HSI will show the glide path. On your autopilot panel make sure APPR is enabled and when you reach the GP the aircraft will follow it down. -
@rbringh I wouldn’t think it would make much sense since the 530 is a temporary system that will be replaced by the custom FMS when it’s finished. It would be a waste of time to make it RNAV capable if they plan to remove it eventually.

@dadgametime I have been waiting forever for that update for the 146...lol.

@dadgametime They said the GNS530 will remain an option just like the FMS option ;-)
Then it would be nice to be able to select GS for a glide path in case of a LPV approach with the GNS530

Just want to chime in and say that it would be a most welcome addition and for me a decision factor to pull the trigger and get it in to addition to my 146 :)

@dadgametime That's an update I won't be installing I prefer a GPS and older aircraft are likely to be retrofitted with them.

Ideally everything should support the GNS750 addons, even if it means duct taping the box somewhere and connecting it with loose cables ;-) It's a good system to operate in a "modern" environment, and the 530 also has some limitations like not supporting holds.
From what I read, the Nightmare Mode FMC coming to the 146 would rather be a step back compared to the CRJ system currently available in that plane too.
