Will it ever come to a final release???
They have finished the unexpected version for X-plane first, so probably JustFlight sees more future and profit for this platform. The future of P3D is threatened by the FS2020, so there is a chance that JustFlight has stopped the development of Traffic 2020. The new flightsim will have real life AI traffic it seems, so no traffic addon will be needed anymore. We are still working on TG for P3D/FSX and also the X-Plane version. As an example, the P3D version has GA traffic but X-Plane doesn't. The main update planned for P3D/FSX has taken a lot longer than anticipated, but the functionality and content of the program is complete as far as we are concerned.
Good to know FS2020 is going to be so all-encompassing as to make scenery, effects, utilities and traffic programs redundant. However, that doesn't quite chime with what we've seen of it so far.I had already many versions of Traffic (TrafficX, the 360 version, Traffic Global) and I was quite satisfied with this product. It was not perfect, but it did what it had to do: generating realistic life traffic on ground and in the air.
But with the latest version the skies look empty and most planes are waiting at the gate.In that case you have something amiss with your product and it would be worth contacting Just Flight support to see if we can fix it for you.
Last week I have installed the free AIG Manager from Alpha India Group. With the One Click Installation OCI I could install all the flight plans and liveries of many companies very easily. The models are very good, lights, gears and flaps work as they should work, and the sky is full with planes again and airports are again places with much activity and is doesn't need so much PS resources as Traffic Global. So if you are fed up with waiting, there are some free alternatives out on the internet!
I think most users like the simple 'plug & play' nature of a proper traffic program. There have always been plenty of freeware alternatives to an AI traffic program but they are not for everyone. That's why we continue to make programs like Traffic Global.

@Derek
Thanks Derek for you reply.
It is great to hear that you are still continuing your work on Traffic Global. I see there is much work to do:- realistic movement of traffic on ground and in air. From what I have read in this forum since a very long time already, a solution will be provided with the new flight plans, but until now we have not see anything of this. So I'm curious to see how the result will look like.
- nice and correct plane models with working lights (real landing lights below 10000 feet and not only by changing the fuselage texture of planes at night even at high flight levels, taxi lights off at gate, ...)
- releastic use of runway length for take offs and landings because very short landings followed by long taxi time on the runway to the first exit point lead to many missed approaches and long take off queues.
- up to date liveries and air line companies (many companies are not existing anymore but they are still flying in Traffic)
- realistic working of landing gears like for example on a A330
- realistic altitude for VFR traffic (no Pipers at high altitudes) and realistic VFR flight plans. I also miss the military planes very much in the new version.
I was a big fan of Traffic because of the user friendly nature. But I see that the freeware alternatives are also working on this, so when this is no issue anymore, the quality of models and flight plans will become more important for making a selection between different traffic packages.
I hope that Justflight can find the resources to make Traffic Global again a very nice product in 2020 and that our long waiting time was useful in order to achieve this goal!

Couldn't agree with you more!
The GA traffic in TG is merely a mixture of a few old T360 models (some of which have black props due to a missing fallback texture folder) and default models (which are known fps munchers), even though there's a very nice Citation and a Learjet model in TG neither of which have textures or flightplans. Imho, freeware alternatives are a lot better.
I too missed the military traffic, but thankfully it's a real simple job to add back the T360 stuff. Same with those rather nice airport vehicles that came with T360.
Personally, I've become extremely disillusioned with TG and it's seemingly interminable development. The whole EA process has been really frustrating from start to finish. TG's adequate to fill some of the world's skies with clones and might be a bit less 'static' if they ever finish the updated scheduling. I certainly don't feel that it's much of a successor to their previous products.
Many of the airlines and liveries are now outdated, many aircraft types are not represented (so a lot of carriers have incomplete fleets), there's still loads of liveries unused in any flightplans, models included without paints, incorrect allocation of registration prefixes, the wrong airlines appearing at airports when compiling with 'use alternate liveries' ...and so on and so forth.....
It's a real shame, as it had the potential to be so much more.
Like many others, I have found far more interest and variety with AIG, particularly since the OCI makes installing and updating so amazingly simple (even for FSX:winking_face_with_tongue: ).

Safe to say that after 18+ months....TG was well intentioned by JF....but poorly executed
-
If only TG would allow the sharing of user generated content..........(or was that the original intention, given the menu entries under 'AI Fleet' ....like the still grayed out 'AI Fleet > Share > Import/Export') ?????
-
@Capt-Quirk
I totally agree!
With so many companies and flight plans, plane models and liveries, there is too much work to do for one or a couple of people working for JF. When paid professionals have to do all this work, the product would cost too much.
That is the power of freeware: many people contribute to the package in order to keep it up to date.
TG could also be a platform which allows users to share content very easily and JF could concentrate more on the user interface. -

Yes - that's the plan. However, we are still looking into a method for upload/download and sharing that will work and remain risk-free for users. We may take the route used in the XP version and let users share on third party sites.

With a development this long + 1 year delay you guys are still thinking of how to add this feature ... ?
Imho the time spent on development has been turned down a lot since the beginning. At the end of last year Rich was even taken of the development to do other work.
You are a nice guy Derek and so is Rich but the way this has been turned out and still is, is not something JF can be proud of.
Just finish it instead of always excuses for delay after delay. Just because time spent on further development has become very little ....

That is kind of what we plan to do. But.... as I have explained in thread after thread, we really don't see there is very much left to do in terms of functionality in this program. It is 'finished' to all intents and purposes. There are certainly going to be more updates to it, but it works as intended and all the feedback provided during this Early Access period has been acted on where practicable. Yes, we will upgrade the GA aircraft. No, we won't be adding military aircraft as part of the base program. Yes, we will change the way the flight plans work and add cargo functionality; but, none of these things are stopping the program from adding a very good range of high-quality models and liveries to the base game and enhancing the AI traffic function in FSX and P3D.

Welll done....
a new update for TG X-Plane and again it stays quiet for P3D...So one month after the other goes by. TG for P3D has become the less important project for JF and almost no time is spent on it anymore ..
It has been announced as the new and leading AI package and it has that potential. But but by bit it has almost come to a halt.
As the program itself seems to be ready now for a while, I can’t imagine that the ac have to take multiple months. They only needed to be adjusted ave some added...
JF has fallen from its pedestal for me...
This a project without end.. -

Welll done....
a new update for TG X-Plane and again it stays quiet for P3D...The latest updates to the X-Plane version are to resolve some issues with stability, mostly caused by bugs in X-Plane that resulted in CTDs in map mode. If the P3D version was having similar issues and they are reported we would be prioritising a fix for them as well. As it is, the P3D version is complete in terms of stability, content (mostly) and functionality and our final update to this - as explained before - will be to update some of the aircraft and change the way flight plans are handled.
X-Plane, unlike Flight Simulator, doesn't have a substantial, native AI traffic engine. Therefore, it needed quite a bit of work to create a situation that's comparable even to the default in FS/P3D.
I am sorry it has taken longer than we wanted but the vast majority of owners are more than happy with Traffic Global in its current form.NB that the last update for the P3D version (v1.1.1.2) was released on 26th November and added flight plans, liveries and lighting, while the previous one (v1.1.1.0) addressed the list of reported issues with aircraft etc
Rest assured that as one of our best-selling programs we are committed to keeping TG for P3D working as it should. -
Bets are now being taken on which will be first..
the final release of TG for FSX/P3D or Brexit! :grinning_squinting_face: :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes: :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes: -

Please try to address also the unnecessary lighting of parked planes. They all have taxi and landing lights on, causing a mess in terms of performances at night time. This problem has been introduced with the latest version. I know that dynamic lighting has a hit in terms of frame rate, but this problem makes it even worse.
Thanks.
