GSL button assignment
-
I am trying to program a button for GSL, but cannot find one in MSFS.
Is there one? tks -
@flyforever try "toggle autopilot approach hold".
I haven't tested binding it but that would be the one.
Note some controls need external software, like the ALT ARM button. I use SPAD, however this plane works with alot of default bindings pretty well.
-
thanks, and I was going to ask about ALT ARM event.
-
@flyforever I think it's an LVAR - L:MCP_ALT_arm
I only got SPAD a month ago, and it's taking me forever to go through and map all my hardware for all planes. Haven't got to the 146 yet...
It's great having almost unlimited power to map things, but don't do it unless you can put in the time/effort. It's almost like a hobby in itself!

I am still working with Axis and Ohs demo, since Mobil flight and Spad.next require dedicated hardware. I am using X-touch, and so far the the Alt Arm got me stuck. You are correct. It probably requires a script, so here I go trying to figure out scripts.... -
@flyforever Axis and Ohs will work. Just need to know how to map to that variable.
SPAD by the way doesn't need dedicated hardware. Even though it supports all the Saitek panels and other stuff, I don't own any Saitek at all and I use it to map my Joystick, Throttle, button boxes and various other kit I've added over the years.
Normal joystick mappings just look like this where you push the joystick button and then assign something to it via searching for the event name. Eg this button I use to "Reset Trim":
Actually since you mentioned X-Touch, they have support for that as a device: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbL4QMsABFE

I just downloaded Spad and, still, the ALT_ARM button command is elusive. There's no action with such a name, so I am still at a loss.
I don't understand why this command, which is fairly common in many aircrafts is missing in all of these apps. -
@flyforever you need to have MSFS running with the BAE 146 loaded, then the LVARs section will populate with variables that you can change.
Assuming you have the LVAR bridge installed in community folder etc.
This section is empty below because it is not running, but it will list the available LVARs when you run it and use the panel.

The spad lvars viewer does not display such an event. The only module that sees the event is Mobiflight connector. In fact, I can activate this ALT-ARM with this module. Never did I think that one command would have working so hard..... -
@flyforever that's not an event, it's a data value.
You sure you're mapping data values and not events?
When you map the button there are two options to map - map to change data, not to events.
It might be best if you do some of the tutorial videos, there's alot but it does help. Just the initial ones should cover mapping: https://www.youtube.com/c/LesOReilly
