ILS Vloc
-
Perhaps there is some confusion on my part. On the A/P panel there are two settings. V\L and 8 LOC.
Which should I be using for the ILS localizer capturing ?Herman
-
@hermankreimes V/L and GSL. V/L is for capturing the Localiser/VORDME, and GSL is for capturing the Glide Slope. BLOC is Back Localiser... I have no idea how it works, I've never heard of anyone using it.

One more little hint. If you fly with RNAV (with FMS) then you have to set the HSI switch from RNAV to NAV before. I do it like this:
If the approach course is e.g. 90°, then I set the heading to 90°. Then I switch the autopilot from LNAV to HDG. Now the aircraft follows the set heading. Now I switch the HSI switch from RNAV to NAV. This is the only way to receive the ILS signal. As soon as I receive a signal (Glideslope and Localiser) I turn off HDG and turn on V/L and GSL.
Now the aircraft follows the localiser and the glideslope. The pilot confirms the reception with "Localiser captured" and with "Glideslope captured". -
@fly-harry-fly this is the way :-)

@Fly-Harry-Fly
Melon and F-H-F.....Thank you all. Did a flight today and all worked just fine using your directions.
Cheers.....Herman

@hermankreimes No problem. I forgot about mentioning the RNAV switch, I do it by automatic reflex now-a-days so it slipped my mind.

@melon
No problem. I am usually a classic airplane flyer....so I do not know how to use the FMC....so I just fly the headings for the flight plan route in FS2020.
Most FS2020 aircraft program the flight plan automatically for IFR flights....but for some reason the Just Flight BAC146 does not have that feature. Maybe in future updates.Cheers....Herman

@hermankreimes
What do you mean by automatic? I always create my routes with Simbrief and then load them into the FMS.IDX > NEXT > ROUTE MENU > FPLN RECALL (SB).
I also like to fly VOR. But the number of stations in certain areas of the world is quite low.

@fly-harry-fly Not going to swear to it because I always use simbrief, but I thought you could load the MSFS route generated from world map into the WT MS. Been a while so can't be 100%
