pls help, what triggers broken nose wheel steering after landing
-
Hello everybody,
recently i activated damage in FS2020 and since then i frequently have no nose wheel steering after landing.
I'm trying to understand what triggers this damage as i think my landings are (mostly) reasonable smooth. At first i thought it was not braking before retracting the wheels but i still get this problem.
I cant replicate this with the non retractable landing gear airplanes, even after very rough landigs in a Chessna 152/172 the nose wheel steering is still intact.
I have this problem as well in the 310R but not that frequently as in the Piper Arrow.Any help appreciated.

Update,
problem was somehow related to StateSaving.
By disabeling StateSaving it was (most probably) gone, after re-enabeling StateSaving it was back.
Then i discovered DevMode and when i did a QuickReload in the Behaviour window it was even gone with StateSaving enabled (so far, fingers crossed ...) -
Unlike the Cessna 152/172, the PA28 has a direct linkage between the rudder pedals and the nosewheel, with no springs or bungees in between... and if you are doing a crosswind landing using opposite rudder and aileron for a wing low final approach, the nosewheel will be turned at an angle to the direction of movement at touchdown. So, if you allow the nosewheel to contact the runway too soon it will cause excessive side force on the nosewheel, which could cause it to fail. The POH says to hold the nose up as long as possible after touchdown while you slow down, then straighten it just before it touches the runway. Once the nosewheel is on the ground you should be able to then use it to counter the crosswind.

Thx for the reply, but i don't think NWS damage is implemented as of now.
What happend was totally unrelated to any abuse of the landing gear and it finally made click when my NWS was fine after a landing but was gone on my way to the apron.
With the Maverick DLC i assigned 'SetNoseWheelSteeringToLimit ' to my Pinky switch on the Warthog. Earlier i had assigned the combo Pinky + TMS Up/Down to Zoom In /Out. So whenever i changed my zoom level i killed the NWS. That made it so difficult to catch it as while testing this i usually didn't touch the zoom, just once in a while ... sigh. What i don't know is if pressing 'Set Node Wheel Steering To Limit' should kill the NWS and if there is a button to regain it, so far no luck finding one.
Pretty sure it is confirmed that that was the problem, as i dove nose wheel first into the runway and NWS was fine but after assigning a key combo to this functionality and pressing it NWS is instantly gone.
Is there any way to mark a topic as solved?
