A/P in Vertical Mode
-
Hello to all:
Slowly, very slowly, I am starting to understand the behaviours of this airplane, although I am very familiar with it in X-Plane.
One issue that I find, is that in my case, the A/P does not follow the vertical mode settings such as IAS and/or V/S.
It settles in about 1500 Ft/m climb and does not pitch the nose up or down, when I select IAS and move the IAS indicator to a higher or lower speed.
I use the assigned SYNCH button on my joystick to lower or rise the nose when V/S is selected, but it returns to the V/S it had before.
I don't know if others are experiencing the same issue and if they are, I hope that it will be addressed soon.
Regards,

@stopnicki One of the things I've found is that JF seem to have set the Sync button to a toggle switch (the afterburner keybind), and AFAIK you can't hold the button as you would in the real aircraft, similar to CWS. So if you have that keybind setup to your hardware, you have to press it, the AP green light will go out and you'll get the "Sync" FMA, then adjust pitch for VS/IAS, then press your Sync button again. Hope this helps!

@bburkley thanks for the very quick response.
I now understand better how that synch button works.
However, I thought that if I change the IAS indicator (the small yellow triangle), the A/P would follow it and adjust the V/S until it reaches the new set IAS.
It doesn't do that. It does not "chase" after the new IAS.
Thanks again!

@stopnicki What IAS indicator are you setting? The only way to set the IAS or VS values are to use the Sync function.
Edit: the yellow triangle is just a display bug, not tied to the autopilot the way the heading bug is. Same with the engine bugs I believe.

@jmarkows I am terribly embarrassed to say that I soon realized that I had totally forgotten the operation of this great airplane.
Just completed a full flight.
It was done after watching a few more videos to remember how "really" this airplane flies.
You "tell" it what to do. It doesn't "understand" what you "want" it to do.
You tell it "I want you to keep this IAS or V/S", and it does.
You can't tell it "I want you to get to that IAS or V/S". It's electronics were not that sophisticated.
Other than a "so-so" landing, it was fun to finally accomplish a full flight.
The only issue in VR (which I fly exclusively if I can) as in the past, is the inability to reach some instruments/buttons/dials (ie altimeters barometer dials 🙄) with the mouse.
Controllers don't work well at all.
It is not JustFlight's fault. We can only hope that Asobo will soon address VR in more detail.
Thanks again.
